Re: Question-specific discussion
Hi Jacob, I only used the Primary Chronicle in the tossup as a clue of itself; the rest of the stuff is separate. The lead-in is from 2000, the Khmelnytsky and Hetmanate from the Cossack period. The Rus Pravda was by Yaroslav the Wise, and is in the Primary Chronicle, but I think Yaroslav at least i...

We would strongly prefer if everyone could finalize the number of teams being sent by Thursday night (10/27) for logistical purposes.nationalhistorybeeandbowl » Wed Oct 19, 2011 10:49 pm Is there a final deadline for firming up # of teams?

Re: FNT Mirror @ Hunter College High School (10/29/11)
Ardsley will look in to sending 1-2 teams to this, unofficially as of now. I won't be in the state that weekend, but we should be able to get people down to you. Question though: does QU/NAC count as quiz bowl for eligibility purposes? It wouldn't tremendously affect our team, but would be good to ...

Re: NYC Area Champions League / NJ State League
I think Hunter would definitely be interested in participating in this sort of activity, though at the same time we would also prefer that there be a format that is somewhat more representative of standard quiz bowl in general (there can be a decent amount of flexibility of this, and I think having ...

Re: 2011 PACE NSC Tournament Format
I think it should also be pointed out that part of the delay was caused by a moderator that occurred in round 1 in Hunter's bracket in which 2 teams (not sure which) had to play a tiebreaker but then didn't since one team was ruled wrong, or that there was never a tie, or something to that effect fr...

Re: 2011 NSC: Tournament Logistic Discussion (not the set)
We had asked for our protest to be revisited because we did not hear back about any reasoning for the decision whatsoever, which we felt was exceedingly stupid. In addition, we never received official word as to whether the protest had been resolved or not, and in which direction the protest was res...

Re: Prison Bowl IV @ Hunter HS, NYC (3/5/2011)
Speaking as an individual, I believe that the end result of the first five packets being so significantly easier than the rest was not intentional. There was an effort to save the hardest questions for the final rounds, and I think that it is fair for the finals themselves to be of higher difficulty...

Re: On-going season rankings
I think it could also be noted that higher PPB, higher PPG, and higher positions on Fred's rankings can be linked? It seems that those teams who have higher PPBs also do better overall. I suppose the logic goes that those with high ppb convert the harder parts of bonuses, and would therefore have de...

Re: Delta Burke 2010 Discussion
The most annoying thing I found with this set was how badly the sub-distributions were skewed, especially in some rounds. There seemed to be a general over-abundance of American history and a general lack of British Hist. American history ended up being the majority of the history distribution, in o...

Re: BHSAT XIX (3/27/2010) at Yale (New Haven, CT)
It was a playoff double round robin between Seton Hall, Kellenberg, St. Joe's and Hunter in the top bracket, and in the end St. Joe's beat Kellenberg twice, who had beaten Hunter once and lost the other time. The final round of the double-round robin was essentially the final, for due to a lack of p...

Re: QuAC II at UPenn in Phila., PA (11/21/09)
Well after the first two bonuses, my team felt that this tournament was going to be pretty hard, though that lessened as the day went on. The main problems I had with this set was the frequent repetition, and there were many cliffs that were still in power which proved frustrating. Poetry overshadow...
