Re: MUT 2013 Specific Question Discussion Thread
Ashvin, thanks for catching the errors with the science. I only wrote the science and the math, but it looks like I was responsible for at least my fair share of the mistakes. For 10 points, give this term whose additive kind is given by negative one and whose multiplicative kind is the reciprocal. ...

Re: NAQT security review: three more cases
The people who aren't Daichi on last year's Chicago team that stuck to their guns and forced Shantanu to be held responsible are heroes and should be emulated in all situations like this. While I agree that I'm the hero in all of this, I'd just like to set the record straight on one thing. Daichi w...

Re: Question-specific discussion
I think this tournament featured a number of questions which, put politely, demonstrated that the editors had no sympathy for the people playing the questions. Sloppy grammar and confusing wording often made it impossible to tell what was going on in questions. Instead of digging up a laundry list o...

Re: ANNOUNCEMENT: Penn-ance at Ohio State (10/27/2012)
If you're talking about Jarret or Jasper, I think neither of them were the TD of the tournament. According to this post by Jasper, Gerard Louis is the actual TD. FWIW, in the post-playoff match I observed between Chicago A and B, which the OSU team was also spectating, the moderator referred to one...

Re: Question security issue at the 2012 ICT
During the ICT, Chicago players noticed that some material referenced by a Chicago club member during the car ride to the tournament was coming up in questions. Chicago promptly notified NAQT, described the incidents and during the tournament fully cooperated with NAQT in answering their questions. ...

Re: BARGE General Discussion
The issue I had with this question was the lead-in, everything else was just fine. I buzzed in right after "factored" in the first line with the answer line "polynomials" because, well, cyclotomic polynomials are irreducible in general and so that seemed like the natural spot to...

Re: Minnesota/Penn Open IV Discussion
I was also on the team with Ben and Marshall that went the whole tournament hearing 4/4 of the Math and Computer Science. Having seen the rest of the packets, it doesn't look like the subdistribution was as skewed as it seemed to us; we just happened to miss 3/4 of the Math and Computer Science in t...

Math and Computer Science
Since many of my questions are from different categories, the thing that seemed to make the most was creation of a thread for all the math and computer science questions. I've listed all of my questions below. Hopefully Jay will post his questions in this thread at some point also. Math tossups: Com...

UChicago is sending 1team (not packet-writing). I won't be playing, so I'll be available to moderate. We have 1 buzzer.

UChicago is planning on sending one (or possibly two) team(s) to this. We'll also have 1 buzzer and potentially 1 moderator as well. I'll let you know the exact number tonight.

Re: ACF Fall Midwest at UChicago
Here are some final announcements regarding the tournament: Doors open at 8am, registration starts at 8:15, and we're aiming to start the first round at 9:00. As most of the game rooms will be in Harper, we'll be meeting there. We've decided to charge $3 / person for lunch. We really need teams to b...

ACF Fall Midwest at UChicago
