I'd like to play (packets other than the one I wrote) though I can't do September 28th or 29th.

Any other Saturday should be fine, same for Sunday before 4 pm ET.

I also live on the west coast and I'm totally fine with a 6 am start.

EDIT: due to unexpected stuff, can't make it this time unfortunately.

Re: Mons Mathstrosity II: Even Primes Redux [Announcement]

I likely won't be able to attend any of the in-person mirrors, but I'd be very interested in playing an online mirror.

Re: Mixtape: A Guerrilla Popular Music Event for Charity

I hope people do not feel bad if their packets are combined so that mirrors can hear as many different packet authors as possible. It's likely that I will keep a "Raw_packets" folder around if people are interested in the raw questions. I wouldn't feel bad at all! But I'd want all the que...

Re: How We Treat Each Other: 2019

I don't have a conclusion for this or some "do better" spiel, but I hope it provides some insight into why a person would want to stop their involvement in quizbowl. It definitely does. I saw your post because someone shared it on the Discord, so I'm not the only one that found it valuabl...

Re: Women in Sets

Just wanted to add a perspective since it doesn't already seem to be represented in the thread. This is a complex topic and I don't believe what I'll say is necessarily 100% correct but I thought it was worth sharing. Mike listed three kinds of bias in his post and I'd add to those to get the follow...

Re: 2019 PIANO/MO Specific Question Discussion

So I agree that this was a pretty hard tossup, but I chose the topic because I kept running into it (along with the rest of the basic theory around homotopy groups) in classes—and I’ve never taken a pure topology class either. Covering spaces was a tough tossup, but it seems a bit unfair to charact...

Re: 2019 PIANO/MO Specific Question Discussion

First off, thanks to everyone-- I really enjoyed playing the tournament!! This is not a well-thought-out critique, just wanted to comment and give some anecdotal data on questions I thought were interesting/cool. Take it with a grain of salt. "Covering space", while enjoyable-- very nice t...

Re: Podcast Recommendations

I'll add a third recommendation for Econ Talk. Even if econ isn't your thing, many of the episodes aren't about economics in the concrete and direct sense. My favorite episode of 2018 is about the philosophy of history. In terms of QB knowledge, you'll definitely pick up some tidbits about Adam Smit...

Thanks again to all the writers, editors, readers, staffers, etc! I really enjoyed playing this tournament yesterday and wouldn't have been able to do so were it not mirrored online as an Open.

Kelsey, We haven't had any meetings since spring 2011, but if you're interested in organizing something yourself, send me an email at (without the spaces) m k w a l l a c [AT] indiana.edu, and I'll provide you with the contact info I have for the people here who might still be interested. Re: Is there a team at Indiana?

In the interest of answering this question publicly, for anyone who might be curious: The last tournament attended by a team from Indiana was EFT 2009, during the fall of my freshman year. I can't comment on things before that, but at least since then there simply hasn't been enough interest or dedi...

Re: Maryland Spring Tournament

To follow up on my previous offer to staff:

I'm available, and can bring a laptop.
Shuochen Huang (whom I played with in high school) is also willing to help out.

I assume the tournament can still use extra staffers, but let us know if that's not the case.
Thanks, otherwise see you all tomorrow.

Re: Sack of Antwerp mirror @ U. Delaware, 3/12/11

I'm interested in playing this tournament. Given the difficulty of the set, I am looking for teammates. Just realized I'll be only an hour and a half away as this is happening the day after I get home for spring break. I'd be quite happy to join you (if you still need teammates), though I can't pro...

Indiana is expressing tentative interest. If we can make it to a tournament this semester, this would be the one.

Ted-Whitman Collective/"Smoothie King Thugz" has 1-2 slots open if you don't care about winning.
If you guys want someone completely incapable of winning, I'd love to join you.

Re: ANNOUNCEMENT: Sun 'n Fun X Mirror (7/11/09) at Maryland

I'd like to play this, and I'll declare my soul unclaimed, though I'd be just as happy if I ended up staffing, seeing as I'm out of my depth here.
