Kaneland Varsity A well run tournament by all involved, although the questions were a little easy at times. I'll echo the sentiments......while it was a long day (are there other tournaments with scheduled 8:30 starting times?). I wish there had been more matches in the morning (I prefer getting in...

If there is an administrator out there....I think it is long passed time to close this thread.....especially since it has degraded into not so subtle bashing. Frankly, if I had a team that was capable of going to a national tournament, I doubt I would take them after reading the last several posts.....

All-State 2005....hmmmmmm While I can't be too sure in Class A, I think: Tyler Kerr, the guy from Morton, the guy from Stevenson, the entire Fremd team, the math guy from Wheaton North the guy from Maine East, the girl from Lisle....the token New Trier kid (I'm not insulting..they're really that goo...

If we survive our sectional, Fremd will be at Masonic. However due to a bunch of prior commitments (math team, science bowl, college interviews), we wont be at NAQT. I thought that Science Bowl was officially kayboshed..... The last three weeks of February just seem like a lousy/great time for scho...

The Illinois perspective: Wrong. Not fully simplified, as everything on every math problem must be 100% simplified, unless explicitly asked for otherwise. You can perform operations on 1/-i to reach a simpler answer (as the simplest answers for i-type simplifications like this are 1, -1, i, -i, and...

Well, we're about to close the 2004 part of the 04-05 season.......any thoughts on the top of the charts now? From what I've seen and heard (class AA): Fremd, Auburn, New Trier, and MacArthur are all in the mix.......Stevenson? Libertyville? Fenwick? Maine South? Wheaton North? who am I leaving off ...

Kelly Tourdot, Stillman Valley. Discuss. I saw her play once in a regular season match and twice downstate. Very well might have been the best Class A player her senior year. Like with any player, she had her strengths, and like any player certain tournaments she did better, depending on the questi...

I would never put much weight in those rankings that get published....while not every selector does so, a lot of them just vote for local teams....or whatever team recently beat them (because they would HAVE to be pretty good to beat us). There are tons of underrated teams that never get a lot of pl...

My experience with TD's has been that when they are first starting out, they can contribute to delays in starting. Most of the problems that hold up tournaments: 1. Slow moderators (this is the #1 problem).....it gets on my nerves..it gets on a lot of players' nerves....you just want to run up, grab...

I agree with you that within the NAQT rules, there is nothing wrong....it is good startegy.......to me, it just seems a bit underhanded......I know that this might seem hypocritical concerning that we tell kids to kill reboundable bonuses when they don't have a clue....there's just something about t...

Get some new kids that actually want to learn; their desire will eventually pay off. Before you go bringing in new talent....... I am assuming that you don't pay the players, and that this is a high school setting. Don't just get rid of the kids. That kind of B.S. is for the cut-throat types who pl...

The only good players I've ever known have had practice by the time they get to high school. I didn't play on a team, but I practiced with the hs varsity team twice a week my entire eighth grade year. Styxman They brought a rule book along and when an answer didn't go their way, the protested that it was right according to the rule book. They managed to delay the match 10 minutes. In the semis, when they played Rockford Guildford, they managed to delay that match a half hour over a rule dispute....

I'm just sad I was moderating the 3rd place game. Stillman and Wheaton were evenly matched, which is saying something, because there were NO AA teams evenly matched with Wheaton. Illinois 04-05
I was in a discussion with a few people over the coming season, and thought I would start thinking about the top teams in Illinois this year. 1. Wheaton North (they may not be as good as last year, but it will likely take a year for everyone to stop being afraid of them) 2. Rockford-Auburn (they don...
