David's point is that even though stalling could hurt your team if you have a lead, it's more likely to hurt the opposing team, and thus increase your chance of winning.

I think it's a great sign when people go to tournaments unaffiliated. It's a lot harder to get a team together for an event if you don't have a coach going and the school isn't paying for it.

HSNCT placings can be very weird. Draw a bad result in the double elimination and you could be out quickly without a chance. The difference between being in and out of the top 25 has a lot of luck.

Teams that are struggling with easy parts are not amused either by insultingly easy parts. They are in fact, insulted, because it's better to not be able to answer a part at all than to only be able to answer it because it was trivially easy. Easy parts can be very, very, easy, but no team likes it ...

IMSANITY 3 will have .5/.5 Trash and .5/.5 SS, and 1 tiebreaker per round. I think we're planning on 16 packets, though, so one of those could be used in case more tiebreakers are needed.

IMSANITY had 13 packets, not 12.
Also, you need at least 15 packets if for some reason you decided that your tournament should not have tiebreakers or replacement questions in the packets.
