I'll shamelessly add here that OSU will hold our annual HSAPQ tournament on January 19th and if the Ohio calendar works out, will probably host some non-NAQT tournament in the spring. Columbus is within 4 hours of the Detroit-Novi area, and we'd love to see more Michigan teams at our tournaments. D...

A little thing to add here - for those who don't know, the Honors College at Michigan State University has sponsored its own state championship for about a decade and has always used KMO questions, which like QU questions feature lots of nasty hooks and questions that much of the quiz bowl community...

I wouldn't use Michigan stats as a good gauge for the difficulty of a tournament because as a whole Michigan quiz bowl isn't all that strong. MSU probably should have chosen an easier house write.

I'm also very glad to see a camp in Ohio. It should give more Michigan players the opportunity to go to ACE and given the state of Michigan quiz bowl (only a few relevant teams year in and year out) this could be a real shot in the arm.

At Detroit Catholic Central, we have a homeroom period in the middle of the day where we basically just sit and do homework in a classroom for 25 minutes after lunch. Guys on the quiz bowl team go to our coach's room and have buzzer practice or study pages during homeroom.

I agree with the above. When the DCC kids practice on Skype, we just type in buzz and whoever is reading just recognizes the first buzz.
