What time these nights?
Well that would most certainly help for a packet reading! We're going to do 9:00 p.m. EST both nights as a start time.
I'll do my best to be there!

Re: Paired Tossups and Bonuses

Can you explain what you mean by this? How are NAQT's bonuses structured any differently than other quizbowl tournament's bonuses? Well, the NAQT format is pretty standardized across quiz bowl now, I think the only national outliers I'm aware of would be QUnlimited/NAC and the PACE NSC. My issue wi...

The Purpose of Bonuses

Split from Paired Tossups and Bonuses - Mgmt The hotter take is that bonuses end up making a difference in a very small number of games. A large portion of a quizbowl match is devoted to them. As I've argued elsewhere, I'd love to see new approaches to bonuses that preserve the teamwork element but...

Re: CALISTO Online (5/16)

This tournament was a lot of fun! I think the only hiccup was that some staff weren't familiar with how to manually disconnect someone from a voice channel, so there were a few times we had to wait around until someone whose roles had been revoked actually left. (sidenote: I think it's possible to g...

Re: ACRONYM League - May/June 2020

Are there any teams looking for players still? And if so, is it still legal to add free agents, or are rosters completely locked? I completely missed this thread and am bummed.

Re: CALISTO Online (5/16)

Do we have a rough idea yet of how many packets will be played? Will it be TU-only, or TU+bonus? If TU+bonus, how much time will be given on bonuses? Will answers be given via voice or text? We plan to have 10ish rounds of tossups and bonuses. It's a month out and we're still considering policy on ...

I feel like a 12 month ban from organized online competition for a first offense is eminently reasonable.

Re: Internet Charity Tournament (April 4th, 5th)

This event was great and I had a lot of fun on the small subset of the packets that I played! I do think the difficulty was a little too high for my personal preferences, but I probably wasn't really the target audience. I loved how diverse the subject matters covered were, and how each packet was i...

I'm glad Michigan/Michigan State has come together on this and that this tournament will (basically) be continuing.
Hopefully both continuing and improving! I'm very excited we were able to settle on a format that will dramatically increase the number of games each team will get to play

I will have at least five tossups of dubious merit that can hardly be considered a packet, but if played will hopefully make at least one person in the room smile.

I'll have 12 buzzers that can hook up to a laptop running the PACE Buzz software (1 USB port required per 4 buzzers), and I'll also bring my laptop that has the PACE Buzz software and 3 USB ports.
