It appears that the Dallas area is in need of any tournaments it can get, so the size of the school shouldn't be a hindrance to hosting, say, a twelve- or eighteen-team tournament. As for becoming competent at questions about the Bible, I would suggest going ahead and reading the entire New Testament (or at least the gospels, the Acts of the Apostles, and the Book of Revelation). NAQT isn't bad. I like their tossups. But one day we read some PACE tossups in practice. Need I say more? The IHSA state series questions also tend to be long. Those are the pyramidal he hears most often. You should try reading some HSAPQ sets or novice sets like SCOP and Fall Novice in practice. Y...

I second most of what Ryan said, but it's not really necessary to buy NAQT's new schools package when quizbowlpackets.com has all the practice material you'll ever need for free. After hearing BDAT yesterday at Missouri S&T, I would not recommend it if you're looking for a set of reasonable difficulty for B through D teams. Has the Minnesota Novice set been used yet in the Northeast? Noting that I have not heard or read the set, that seems like a reasonable option for yo...

It seems to me that it's possible to make high school quiz bowl more accessible simply by reducing the difficulty of novice sets instead of having NAQT create a three-tiered difficulty system.
