Re: Question feedback request

I liked the execution of the Kanye tossup, but was there a reason it was all clues from Late Registration ? It might have been more interesting to hear some stuff from Yeezus . I don't mean this to be snarky, but it's because the tossup was written/edited that way, and not another way, and what you...

Re: Question feedback request

(DI) The Radiohead question seemed to have a serious cliff at "Nigel Godrich." Yea, probably. I'm not sure how well known Godrich is among non-Radiohead-stans out there, but the reason I didn't buzz earlier on him was I was wondering if he did any work for any other bands (which he has, b...

Re: 2014 SCT: specific questions

There was a bonus in round 13 (I think) that went Dead Sea/Turkmenistan/Xinjiang except they flipped the clues for Turkmenistan (talking about the Tarim Depression here) and Xinjiang (talking about some Turkmeni thing here). I feel like that was definitely a weird oversight. This is in the correct ...

Re: Question-Specific Discussion

The tossup on Meditations on First Philosophy had an incorrect clue in the tossup. The tossup refers to the Meditations as being written in "geometrical order" which my teammate buzzed on and said Spinoza's Ethics (which IS written in geometrical order, unlike the Meditations ). All the o...

Re: DRAGOON Mirror @ Virginia Tech (Sunday, 11/17/13)

Congrats to all the teams who played today, the staffers who came out, and Illinois for writing the tournament.

I was just wondering if there was a place to talk about the tournament? I have some questions about some of the tossups.

Re: VCU Closed discussion

I thought the packets got more difficult as the day progressed. I'm not entirely sure whether this was caused by my deteriorating physical condition throughout the day, or they were actually getting harder. I think this was especially true of the bonuses. I'm sure this is probably just a psychologi...

Re: VCU Closed discussion

I am not a fan of the preponderance of military history in the history questions. However, I haven't been playing nearly long enough to know whether this is a feature of regular difficulty tournaments. But from my pretty limited experience, Fall tends to have a lot more non-military history history ...
