These are all good suggestions, I would add one more: if you do host a tournament, don't overdo it--especially if you do it on pyramidal questions. In many cases, I think it's probably due to coaches retiring, transferring schools, or leaving education, and their successors might not be interested in continuing the tournament. For the former, there is a further distinction that only 5-on-5 tournaments can be officially "counted", although during discussion (at least, during the Maine South Sectional seeding meeting) other tournaments can be mentioned, but even there people usually don't mention unaffiliated tour...

Until the mods make a decision on this, the best thing to do might be to bump your announcement every other day or so by updating the field of teams.
