NAQT SCT @ UT Dallas (February 3, 2018)
I'm pleased to announce that The University of Texas at Dallas will again be the southern site for the 2018 NAQT Sectional Championship Tournament (SCT), on February 3th, 2018. This tournament is open to all college teams, and will be a qualifier for the 2018 ICT, which will take place at the Hyatt ...

Can I see the Derrida and Searle/analytic philosophy/deconstruction bonus? Also, were there three poetry questions in the first packet? I remember Freneau and The Ballad of Reading Gaol and I thought there was another one.

Re: NASAT 2015 Specific Question Discussion
This was a lot of fun to play, thanks to everyone that was involved in delivering the set. I especially enjoyed Thor and Jormungandr and Hello World/teapot/% as creative and fun. Horses / Ares / he is touching the earth, Tryst with Destiny speech/Nehru/Jinnah seemed a bit easy, while The Cut-Glass B...

Re: 2015 PACE NSC Seeding/General Seeding Discussion
You'd might expect a prelim bracket with more underseeded teams to be objectively stronger since their strength was underestimated. Since each prelim bracket sends two teams to each tier, you would expect underseeded teams to perform well on Saturday afternoon because they were pushed into a lower t...

I'd also like to see the tossup on the blood of Christ. Our teammate buzzed in on the clue about Longinus, somewhat confused because he never heard Longinus referred to as blind, and also confused later as to why a relic of Saint Andrew would be the blood of Christ (as opposed to the blood of Saint...

I'll be attending the University of Texas at Dallas, and I'd be interested in playing in college. Does anyone have any information on if there actually is a club there? I'm having some trouble finding a contact; it's not on this list of college teams: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0Ajq...

The Lusiads are kinda important... Jokes aside, I agree that Sean's analysis is good. I think High Tech A and St. Joe's are ranked a few spots higher than they should be unless they can do a really good job covering their weaknesses in the next few months. As mentioned above, our A Team is vulnerabl...

Re: Should "Shakespeare" be prompted if looking for "Hamlet?
Just to confirm that I correctly understand the creator-created work rules as they currently stand, under NAQT and ACF rules: Can you answer an author and the work at ANY time during a tossup with an answer of either the author or the work? If I'm not sure whether a tossup is asking for Tennessee Wi...

Why did "extrema" cease to be acceptable for "maxes and mins" halfway through TU 19 in Round 11? It was prompted - I assumed you were looking for either global or local but then my teammate answered "maxes and mins" and it was taken. The mod said extrema was acceptable ...

For the third part of the bonus on Chemical Equilibrium, either there is an error or we misheard/misunderstood the question. We heard something to the effect of, "Consider a reaction where two moles of gas X and one mole of gas Y react to form one mole of gas Z. If the pressure on the system i...

On the Richard Wright bonus, our reader said "Uncle Tom's Cabin" and not "Uncle Tom's Children". While I'm 99% sure this was simply an autopilot reading mistake, I just thought I'd check to make sure. Our reader made the same mistake and corrected himself, so I think it's correc...

Some specific thoughts: For tossup 3 in Round 5, I answered "the Madonna" about halfway through. The listed answer was "Mary", and the moderator decided that was incorrect but changed his mind when the other team said it should be correct. It would be helpful to either list it as...

Re: Scarsdale Tournament- 1/11/14
This tournament was fun, thanks to Scarsdale for putting this together. We appreciated the punctuality; the tournament started on time and was over well before the predicted 5:00pm finish time. As for recommendations, the only suggestion that comes to mind right now is that it would've been nice to ...

Out of curiosity, is there a reason why "Gotham"'s second team is on the waitlist? It seems like there's room in the field.

I didn't keep detailed stats until the playoffs. High Tech B had 21 powers, 6 negs, and 21 tossups in the 5 playoff games, for a total of 4.2 powers/game, 4.2 tossups/game, and 1.2 negs/game in the playoffs.

High Tech B had 16.75 ppb for the playoffs, I don't have prelim ppb data. If anyone is interested I also have our game scores from each round and opponent's ppb for playoff games.
