Out of curiosity, what were the standings after pool play? Which three teams from each pool and seed?

It was the 5th Annual Bob Jones Invitational.

It was later this year because they have a new coach this year that's still learning the ropes.

I went to a couple of practices as a freshmen and quickly realized the college circuit wasn't really for me. Too intense. That and I was by far the worse freshmen. =P

From my playing career... '99 - '03... 1) Slade Gilmer (probably influenced by his XX - 0 record during my playing career. Also never had a strong team behind him after his soph year. Probably the Malone of HS Quizbowl. Best player never to win a championship.) 2) George Nelson (only played against ...

I just wanted to say congratulations to DJ and Lymphoma for your accomplishments. I still remember when you guys were little freshmen. I heard you guys still use the master lists I made. Haha.

The thing with teams with a strong player is that the rest of the team is probably pretty good, but just aren't quite as fast. For the best of the team, it's sometimes not necessary to have everyone try to do everything, which might create a case of too many chefs in one kitchen. I think when a team...

The reason I call Andrew "Lymphoma" is because during practice his freshmen year (my senior year), there was a question where he had an early buzz and answered "Lymphoma" very confidently and was horribly horribly wrong (the actual answer was China I think). I don't remember the ...

Hey David John, it looks like Bob Jones is doing okay this year. Is Lymphoma tearing it up or do they have good underclassmen? You two are the only two guys left I've ever seen play.

I find that when each person writes a round, the questions from round to round lacks consistency and continuance. I know when Bob Jones hosted their first tourney, they had players submit questions based on their expertise and someone arranged them so each round had a mix from each canon. Maybe some...

On math... I feel that math does deserve a spot on quizbowl since it is a part of the core curriculum in high school. Also, the wider the range of questions, then the deeper a team has to be, yeah? So with computational math, it'll force teams to get a guy on their team to get better at math or get ...

If a team that can't make it drops out, I think they take the highest scoring (ppg) wild card. So for CCA to make it, they would have had to outscore the other three wild card teams. I'm not sure what kind of point values they were putting up, but it's pretty tough to average a whole lot when every ...

Until something happens... don't pre-emptively complain about it... It'll be obvious to everyone if they do something too biased.

Ultimately though, it's not who got shafted where in which district, it should be about who makes their mark at state. I'm not sure how strong ASFA is this year, but having finished fourth in their pool at any district, I question whether they were going to make a run at state. But I know David is g...

10) Vestavia Hills (For a first year team to be this good, they deserve the ranking) First year team? Do you mean ASCA or? I know I played with my captain them my Sr. year (two years ago) at Clay Chalkville Invitational. I remember they had this one freshman who was pretty fast, but not very knowle...

Yeah... I'm glad you mentioned it and not us. Well, we were hoping to get beyond the first round, but we didn't play that well. I think your team was tired too cause your captain pulled out a few last second answers. Oh well, maybe we'll get another shot at ya'll. Are you going to PACE or Myrtle by ...

I think our record this year is 99 - 30, which in there we lost to St. Andrews. So which player are you, gosaints? I would be the lone guy not to get a question right during our match at UT-C. (I play for Bob Jones)

I respect a little trash talk before tournaments and it should be interesting to see how teams that are good and teams that think they're good face off. Which is why I'm calling it now. We will win at least one game =P Actually, we're one of those teams happy to go so we'll play for fun. But yeah, I...
