I think Naperville North will win NAQT, Barrington will win IHSA, and Stevenson will win Masonic. Sectional assignments for IHSA and Masonics are up. IHSA sectionals are really lopsided.master9017 wrote:Well guys, State is just around the corner. Any predictions on how it'll go this year?

https://s27.postimg.org/9t08y3683/IL_qb.png So after HF stats came out, I redid this, but it turns out the order doesn't change, so I waited until someone said something about it (thanks Jakob  ). I also tried to give a better explanation of my methodology, but I'm not sure if it's too much b...

I have 14 orgo tossups that I would like to read, but that number will probably go up, hopefully to 20. They're maybe nats minus level.

Re: 2016 ACF Fall general discussion
The tossup on solar cells was completely ridiculous. I'd bet good money that literally no one who played this set buzzed before the FTP on this. Hinsdale might be pretty irrelevant now, but our fourth scorer, sophomore Daren Chen, converted this before it namedropped shockley-quiesser limit, where ...

Unrelatedly, we lost to OPRF in conference this week. They have an up-and-coming sophomore who's very good at NAQT as well as two mainstay specialists(?) in Anishka (science) and Sanjeev (lit).

Re: Illinois '16-'17
Hinsdale Central will be a much weaker team this season. I will be scaling back on quizbowl but our team looks like two hist players, Michael (who's also good at Irish stuff and football) and Atharv (who's also good at geography and rock music and some lit), a fourth scorer tbd but probably a lIt pl...

Hello Coach Sacks,
It looks like another tournament like this won't be happening. However, I (not on behalf of Hinsdale Central nor its quizbowl team) endorse the tentative September tournament at OPRF.

You forgot Bloomington, which seems to be rebuilding pretty well  Hinsdale Central B : The roster varies for this team, but Harrison Wang and sometimes BJ, along with Atharv and Michael Noonan, make up a very strong squad, especially in history. This is (sadly) probably not going to be a thing...

Re: Hinsdale Central Quizbowl presents: TEAMS [September 5th
Full stats are up. A 10-team round robin was run. DCC, followed by HC and then Stevenson (ordered by ppg) finished 8-1. HC played Stevenson, and the winner of that match, HC, played DCC as a finals match. "Harsha's Hattrick" defeated Homewood-Flossmoor to take 6th. Loyola left before its t...

it looks like limit won't be finished until around the end of november (but we're nearing 50% completion )

Re: IHSA 2015
As a more math-oriented player, I'd like to offer some thoughts. First off, it was of exceedingly variable difficulty (not to mention badly written). Our reader was very slow, thus listening to the bonuses where a triangle was constructed was pretty painful. Aside from comp math being bad itself and...

Re: Where to obtain question sets?
At one time I tried writing a set of math/science tossups (no bonuses), but then realized that I would run out of answerlines, given that it was a high-school level set, so I only ended up writing about 30 tossups. This begs the question of whether there really are approximately 960 hs canon science...

Can I see the tossup on Islam?
I remember the other team in my room at the time heard Chinvat bridge and negged it with Zoroastrianism, which apparently led to a failed protest.

Re: 2014 NAQT HSNCT: May 31-June 1, Chicago
Does anybody know of the recipients of the individual awards and/or when NAQT posts them on their website?
Thanks in advance.
