Re: This Time, A Stern Warning

My point re: Tejas was that, despite the fact that his power count more than tripled between FO and TO, he was not an outlier in my data set (my original post mentions him 5 times as an example of someone who clearly didn't cheat but had comparable-ish stats to Chris - clearly if I was accusing Teja...

Re: This Time, A Stern Warning

Clearly the evidence was compelling enough that it prompted Eric to come clean after defending himself for the past week. One potential downside to revealing the method to the community at large would be that future cheaters, having internalized this thread, may change their behavior in a manner th...

Re: This Time, A Stern Warning

Ike wrote in the discord: Just wanted to post this here since it was brought up. The timing of Eric's post has nothing to do with Ottawa Hybrid's mirror. It had to do with me formulating the statistical evidence, double checking that I crossed all my ts and dotted my Is and showing it to Eric ourse...

Re: This Time, A Stern Warning

I think an important point lost in all of this statistical discussion is that, all we're proving is that Chris's performance at TO was anomalous. I think my post disproved a few common explanations (Jordan and Matt played together! The history was easier! He had different teammates!), but it's impo...

Re: This Time, A Stern Warning

I took Anson's dataset and did the logical step of normalizing power counts by tournament (so that each column had a mean of 1, but the exact value doesn't matter). Here's what the data look like (no color-coding, sorry): https://i.imgur.com/rCtQZDtl.png then, just like others have been doing, I cal...

Re: This Time, A Stern Warning

NOTE: this post is long and probably not structured great. Over the past few days, I've been doing some analysis of TO, FO, and MWT stats to try to determine if anyone cheated at the TO online mirror. The raw stats spreadsheet I used is attached (EDIT: apparently not? not sure why it's not attaching...

Re: 2020 ACF Regionals: Specific Questions and Errata

I think the question on the "oxide" anion was rather confusing, given that the majority of the question was on the formation and usage of silica, a covalent compound. The question would have been clearer as a tossup on just "oxygen" (as "this element").

How can you write a Nats-minus tossup on a CO-only answerline?

Re: Player Poll 2019

I know it’s late, but Adam Fine should be in your top 25. Not only does he bench 195, but he also put up 48 playoffs PPG at ICT (2nd scoring to Jacob) and outscored Stephen during Nats prelims. I can't comment on how much Adam Fine can bench press, but by my calculation his PP20TUH was actually 25 ...

Re: Players Choice Awards

I think Yale B (Moses Kitakule, James Wedgwood, Hasna Karim, Michael Kearney) beating Columbia A (Rafael Krichevsky, Ben Zhang, Gerhardt Hinkle, Daniel Shao) 310-235 at Regionals should be in the conversation for upset of the year.
