Re: CMST: Specific question discussion

[10] The phenomenon that rare species are common can be explained by this theory, which is often called the “null hypothesis” of evolution, since it contends that evolutionary changes are caused by random genetic drift rather than natural selection. ANSWER: neutral theory of molecular evolution Neu...

Re: CMST: Specific question discussion

The pronoun "species" in the context of this question is misleading. In chemistry, the word "species" refers to a molecule or ion of some sort - I've never heard it used to describe a photon. The photo-Fries rearrangement and the Norrish reactions (which is where I buzzed) are both reactions carrie...

Re: CMST: Specific question discussion

Tossup on photons? 2. The first order rate constant for reactions involving these species is called the j-value. Addition of these species can be modeled by the bicycle-pedal and hula-twist mechanisms. Either an alkene and enol or substituted cyclobutanol can be formed after the addition of these s...

Re: Odd Ways of Learning Things

During our game against Northwestern at ACF Nationals, notable demigod Michael Coates got a tossup on Marfan syndrome second line. When we asked him about it after the game, he said that he buzzed on the clue about the Ghent criteria because he had once gotten tested for Marfan syndrome using the de...

Re: SHATEYAHRONYA I/ AQUILA II @ OLHS (GSAC) 1.9.16

Thanks for checking on it. I still think some of the rounds may have been entered incorrectly, since Solon A is reported as having 30.77 PPB round 1 and DCC B is reported as having 34.55 PPB round 6. Regarding Neg5 - I found it much more user friendly than SQBS in terms of both entering stats and re...

Were PPB and PPBB combined in the stats? If so, is it possible to separate them? Thanks!

Re: Solon Two Day Tournament Feb. 14/15th 2015

Thank you to everyone who braved the cold and came out to our tournament this past weekend! Saturday: DCC A defeated Northmont in the final to win the Varsity division. In the JV division, Tippecanoe B finished a perfect 7-0. Complete stats can be found at http://www.hsquizbowl.org/db/tournaments/28...
