Re: Gaddis Discussion
So in an attempt to gather some productive suggestions going forward, how can a team of writers produce a set of questions written at this level without resorting to this "vanity of selection," while simultaneously avoiding transparency and pyramidality issues? Any suggestions would be ap...

Re: NAQT's Post-ICT Survey
What were the teams' complaints? Just that losing the entire game because they were, say, ten minutes late is a penalty that is incommensurate with the offense? Yeah the feeling was for minor tardiness they were deprived of an entire game. And theoretically they wanted the chance to mount a comeback.

Re: NAQT's Post-ICT Survey
As a moderator, I met some teams (not usually represented here) that had concerns about the current wording of the forefiet rule. Their train of thought: Would you prefer that in a situation where a team fails to arrive within five minutes of a stated game time that the first half begin at that time...

Re: (Correct) Answers that made you hang your head in shame.
This more a combination of shame.
At the 2002 SCT I answered in separate rounds (I forget if they were back-to-back or not) on Battlefield Earth and Judge Dred.
No shame, only points.

I was impressed (negatively) with this question from the Columbia packet at BOB because it does not have a single clue in it : Born in 1847, he served in both the Austro-Prussian and Franco-Prussian Wars, but retired in 1911. He was however, still accused of causing Germany’s downfall in WWI. A m...

CO - History Singles Cancelled
Hi everybody, Some family stuff has come up and its go to take up a bunch of my time and stress over the next couple months. Unfortunately, this takes away from my available free time, and I can't guarantee that I'd be able to deliver the tournament. Somebody(s) can feel free to take over if they wi...

Gauging Interest in Chicago Open History Singles
The other thread has gotten kind of side-tracked with HSCNT discussions, plus I wanted to run a poll. I could potentially be the lead writer & editor for a history singles event for Chicago Open. The availability of 1 co-writer would increase the length of the tournament. If I decide to do this ...

More proof against the use against Wikipedia
El actor y comediante Sinbad rió de último luego que el sitio de Internet Wikipedia anunciara erróneamente su muerte, dijo el propio actor el jueves. Full article http://espanol.entertainment.yahoo.com/16032007/1/entretenimiento-wikipedia-reporta-err-neamente-muerte-sinbad.html A rough translati...

As disappointed as I am by the location of the ICT, I think I should point out that there are ultracheap fares to Minnesota from a handful of Midwestern cities on the Megabus . While this is true, there are a few caveats from my experience riding with this company. 1. Megabus is worse than the airl...

There is likely to be extreme disagreement among economists as to what actual program or set of programs (or even any program at all) caused Venezuela to have the highest real economic growth in the western hemisphere over the past few years, so I think that would actually be a poor leadin. My two cents is that resolving protests significantly past the end of the match creates significant difficulties for informing teams about the results and their ability to counter any arguements (see recent events at ICT). But at that same time, resolving every protest regardless of match outcome wo...

I know this but make the following statement: It felt like...

Yes I know, you counted them out loud for all of us to hear. Your behavior at TRASH regionals was grossly des-pic-able (damn you Ray Sun).
