Re: 2015 PACE NSC: Question set discussion
I'd be interested to see the subdistribution within Religion, if such a thing exists. Splitting hairs here, but looking back at the first line of the "Jummah/Friday" tossup -- "Anyone who recites a chapter telling the story of the seven sleepers of Ephesus on this day will be blessed ...

We'll probably wait until after the season ends/after Nationals. (Not that we're waiting for anything, but in theory we'd want to update based on comments from this tourney, so a date that far into the future gives us ample time...)

Re: HERMES Question-Specific Discussion
I felt that the Basque tossup could have been better written in the context of the rest of the tossup, instead of dropping literature clues in the beginning and assuming that the audience would know of the author's connection to the Basque Country Really quickly I just want to add that I agree whol...

Re: HERMES Question-Specific Discussion
If it's possible could I see these questions: Tossup on Gaudi: I got this question thinking the clues were describing the Sagrada Familia, so I'd like to see what it actually was describing. Tossup on Pre-Raphaelites: I'm confused if the first clue was describing Millais' Christ in the House of his...

Re: HERMES Question-Specific Discussion
Anyway my comments on the set are as follows (forgive me because it has been a while) The set was not well-liked at the Illinois mirror mostly due to the feel that it had been housewritten and so had some odd things going on. For one, I thought the hardness tossup was pretty fraudable in contrast t...

-I thought the tossup on cystic fibrosis was really good with unique clues, and I would love to see it again for information extraction purposes -Same as above for "hardness" Kalydeco is a new drug that treats this disease, in which the mTOR pathway is improperly activated, resulting in n...

Re: HERMES Question-Specific Discussion
1) There was a bonus that involved naming the title character of "The Luck of Roaring Camp." I believe that the answerline required the entire title, but a quick look at Wikipedia is telling me that the main character is named Thomas Luck, so shouldn't either Thomas or Luck be acceptable?...

Re: 2015 BHSAT: Specific Question Requests and Discussion
Could I see the tossup on "Makkah"? I got it pretty late (for a Muslim) on the description of Hajj, so I wanted to see what the first clues were.
Also in general, I was very pleased with the distribution of the Islam in the set. Thanks for including it :D

Re: 2015 BHSAT: Specific Question Requests and Discussion
I and another science player I know Yeah, that would be me. Would it be possible to add "unicellular" to that tossup? To me at least, it seems that the C. Elegans' genome-sequencing is just so much more well-known that although baker's yeast is technically correct, the question still ough...

Re: Richard Montgomery's HERMES available for mirrors!
Thank you everyone for the feedback! Trinish and I definitely want this set to be more accessible that it currently appears. Sorry if this post is a bit long, but we've decided to incorporate most of the suggested changes, so I'd like to address each of them. Of all of the suggestions, (we feel) phi...

Re: Richard Montgomery's HERMES available for mirrors!
I'll go ahead and point out that according to last year's Morlan adjustments ( http://hsqbrank.com/2013-2014-stat-adjustments/ ), Prison Bowl and GSAC were both on the harder side of regular difficulty while BELLOCO was easier. Since BELLoco has not been posted online, our reference to that set was...

The set was written and head-edited by myself and Trinish Chatterjee, with considerable contribution f...
