Daniel Thomas and Blake Stacy got top 6, I dont know the exactly place. Robbie's team got between 6th and 13th. I believe those are the farthest.

A lot of the teams there are all state teams so it's sort of hard for a school team such as ourselves to do very well.

Oh yeah, I just realized that I haven't actually congratulated ASFA yet. Well, congratulations! Have fun at Disney World. The actual Panasonic competition is absolutely awful, but the accomodations and the parks are great; I'm sure you guys will have a great time.

Jon and I are graduating. I'd be careful to count us out though, our highest scorer this year was Charlie (a sophomore). He outscored me at ASCA district, regional, and state.

I agree 100% with DJ. It wasn't that the questions were bad (though a few were ambiguous) but that there were multiple answers to several of the questions and the readers generally didn't use their discretion.

Congrats. As for Huntsville A, CCA totally stomped us first round of the playoffs. We were leading going into the final period but I think they got something like 8 of the last 10 tossups; it was quite amazing.

Just curious, who all is coming to the Huntsville City Inivitational on Monday? Once again, I'm bummed that they won't just give Grissom a team or at least put all 3 Grissom students on the same team, but they never really listen to us.

Oh yeah, and good luck at regionals everyone.

I'm not trying to take shots at your team or anything, you guys are amazing, especially for a group of underclassman. I just don't think last year's ...

School name: Grissom

ASCA member?: Yes

Scholar's bowl period?: No

We practice after school twice a week.

No attendance requirements.

Outside work? Not really.

Our math team is pretty good.

Yes, all 3 schools that feed into Grissom have fairly strong Scholar's bowl programs.

I'm not saying that you can't learn high level math and science as an underclassman. I'm just saying that it's definitely an advantage to have covered some of that stuff in a classroom setting.

Also, the US histories definitely are invaluable.

I agree 100% with David. There are certain things that 10th graders just don't know; in particular, high level math and science. Upperclassmen also tend to have control over history questions. As for what I think Grissom's main weakness this year is...it has to be fine arts. For the past three years...

I think I failed to express my stance on the issue of math in ASCA. I'm assuming that ASCA is trying to pick the best team to represent Alabama at Panasonic, and Panasonic emphasizes math and physics far more than ASCA does; therefore, if ASCA wants to choose the best team to represent Alabama, they...
