Re: Harvard Mirror in GA (11-15-08)
The uneven number of teams due to the late withdrawal of Norcross made for uneven brackets that would have forced 10 rounds to get a double round robin. At lunch, it became apparent that was not a practical option and we switched to the double elimination following the first round robin.

Thanks Robin. Hosting for the first time was quite a learning experience. We learned quite a bit to apply next time (particularly to stagger the lunch release). Results: National 1. Chattahoochee 2. Walton 3. Chattahoochee B 4. Alpharetta 5. Central Gwinnett Open: 1. Central Gwinnett (b) 2. Athens A...

For the several schools that have mentioned they would like to play Dorman more often, just travel to almost any tournament in the Southeast. They play every mid-sized to big event in SC-GA-TN, and several of the smaller ones. It would also be nice to see some head-to-heads between the GA and DC tea...

Lakeside JV was a step ahead of everyone else at the Jaguar Bowl. Norcross had some spotty results. I haven't seen this year's JV in competition yet, but I would guesss they have + speed and average depth of knowledge (for good teams). Central has an excellent JV squad. They were the best of the 5A ...

Forfeited the first round? In Division B, the Rabun Gap Team was allowed to play round one even though everyone else was ready to start round two. Lakeside seemed to be a half step ahead of the other good teams in the field. It will be difficult for anyone to stop them in AAAA state. At the GCC, Norcross finished 3rd in varsity. They drew Brookwood in prelims and the loss pushed them down to the #4 seed where they played Brookwood again. Norcross actually managed more tossups than Brookwood in the rematch, but lost on bonuses (a bugaboo over the past few years for the program). ...

Also, the idea of going straight to a tiebreaker game instead of using things like PPG, PPB, head-to-head, etc, didn't really work out that well, as it led to a lot of confusion among the teams and some teams dropping out. Well, we were breaking a tie for the top bracket, and thus for championship ...

Were you ordered to cancel by the GT administration?
This was the first GT event in awhile, and a last minute cancellation due to rain isn't the way to make a positive impression on teams and coaches.
