Re: ACE summer camp

You can register at any time all the way up to when that camp actually starts; however, there is no guarantee that there will be spots left in the camp at that point. If you register early and submit your initial deposit ($100 I think), then you are guaranteed a spot in the camp.

Re: 2018 HSNCT discussion

Could I see the tossup on bacteriophages from Round 8? I remember protesting because they were referred to as organisms, which I believe was a dispute in other rooms as well. It's my understanding (correct me if I'm wrong) that viruses are not considered organisms, but the ruling from the control ro...

Re: Alabama 2017-2018

In fact, I was actually very impressed and satisfied with the set that was played this Saturday at the MS State Championship. Sometimes, I am sort of put off by some of the answerlines and questions in NAQT sets as I feel that they're not really relevant enough to be asked about (that's a personal o...

Re: Parts of the Lit Canon worth the time to read

Some books/lit I really liked:

Cat's Cradle (I hated S5 but this was really funny)
Lord of the Flies
Fahrenheit 451
Of Mice and Men (really short and really good)
A Streetcar Named Desire
Waiting for Godot (super weird but still cool)

Re: Alabama 2016-2017

I don't know if I'm remembering last year incorrectly, but these pools look like they will be very difficult. Should make for a fun and competitive tournament. Also, to Jared, it's nice to see how people from all over our state are so involved in quizbowl. Our circuit is definitely improving rapidly...

Re: Alabama 2016-2017

I very much enjoyed the Good Hope tournament last weekend, and thanks to everyone who helped out there for giving us a fun time! I'd also kind of like to do something like Mr. Rutsky did above, sort of a survey of Alabama teams before ASCA starts up for this season. All these will be from my own per...

Re: Alabama 2015-16

I'm anxious to know average scores from the Huntsville district, particularly those teams that will be in our region (James Clemens, Buckhorn, Sparkman). Sparkman is considerably better than in previous years, they went 4-1 in our pool with a loss to Huntsville. There were twelve teams, so two pool...

Re: Alabama 2015-16

Just in my opinion, I actually really enjoyed the longer questions. They provided more opportunity to power, in fact, as opposed to regular NAQT A or IS set. Usually, when I play NAQT sets, I rarely receive bonus points for powering questions, but when playing this set, I actually found it more rewa...

Re: Good Hope Invitational Tournament (Cullman, AL)-10/17/15

I think the best chance of getting more teams would be to send out invitations to teams in the Huntsville and Birmingham areas. The drive is less than an hour from these areas and they may not have registered for GH because they might not have heard about it. Buckhorn, Russellville, Arab, Hoover, ju...

Re: Good Hope Invitational Tournament (Cullman, AL)-10/17/15

Hey Chandler, sorry for not confirming our registration earlier. James Clemens will be bringing one to two teams depending on the availability of people that weekend on our team. We'll be bringing a buzzer system as well. Thanks!
