Re: Question Specific Discussion and Errata
Yes, it was the Malaysia question I was thinking of, thank you. I also mixed up my "Korean War vets" with "veterans serving along the Korean DMZ between 04/01/1968 and 08/01/1971". Sources: http://tinyurl.com/glyekte and http://www.publichealth.va.gov/exposures/agentorange/locati...

Re: Question Specific Discussion and Errata
Could I please see the tossup on Thailand? I buzzed on the first line since it mentioned Agent Orange and I knew Agent Orange was used during the Korean War without telling U.S. Vets, but I obviously negged.

Re: Side Event Tournament in NYC- 8/7/16
I am interested in participating, but what do the side events mean. Listory is a literature side event: http://www.hsquizbowl.org/forums/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=18619 BURI is a mythology side event: http://www.hsquizbowl.org/forums/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=18743 And ARTSEE is a Fine Arts side event:...

Re: Question-specific discussion: 2016 DII ICT
I got hosed on this too (in the DI version), since Kandel says "The Wisconsin Card Sort Test evaluates cognitive deficits resulting from damage to dorsolateral prefrontal cortex." This is exactly why functional neuroanatomy question writers have to be really careful. I should probably cla...

Re: "Comment on my questions" thread
Corry, the DII versions of the Gallipoli campaign and South Africa tossups were delightful. I was able to power them both, off "I order you to die!" and necklacing, respectively. Really well done. Will, I'm pretty sure your Galicia tossup was converted into a general question about Spain f...

Re: Question-specific discussion: 2016 DII ICT
"Prefrontal cortex" should at the very least be promptable for "frontal lobe" before the bilateral damage part is read in the lead-in clue. The Wisconsin Card Sorting Task is used to assess function in both the frontal lobe and specifically the prefrontal cortex due to the PFC's ...

Re: Thanks and general discussion
We operated on the commonly held principle that questions on different subject matters can have the same or similar answer lines, and made sure to separate questions like that into different packets. I think the merits of having questions on the literal same answer line, such as the film and music ...

Re: Thanks and general discussion
First let me thank everyone who worked on creating and editing this year's set, as well as everyone who hosted mirrors. We had a great time this year and are looking forward to next year's edition of MUT. The only issue my team had was the amount of times "Russia" was used as an answerline...

Re: Specific Questions
A question that hosed some teams at our site was "Olympic stadiums" --- as some people gave a specific sport, like "soccer stadium." As one person argued, on whatever clue they buzzed on, that they thought the stadium described in that clue is *currently* used for hosting soccer...

Re: Question-specific discussion: 2016 Division II SCT
The "male gaze" question in round 7 was incredibly transparent. I feel that answerline is more appropriate for a bonus than a tossup since there are few other "gazes" that could possibly be alternative answers. A petrifying gaze is the only other I can think of off the top of my ...

My apologies about the behaviorism tossup -- I should have made it clear that the question was not looking for a particular institution. Re: Ike's point about the lit, while I agree with his vision for what Fall literature should look like, I don't think his characterization of the set is accurate....

Re: On Dressing Well for Staffing High School Tournaments
Quick question about what counts as "Business Casual" footwear. I don't really have anything in between formal dress shoes and my everyday sneakers, so is it better to err on the side of formal rather than casual?
