I am disappointed to see a distinct lack of criticism concerning the finals packet. Because I am well aware that it was clearly not the best piece of quiz bowl writing in the modern era, I invite those that still do care to critique it. (Yes, I am seeking to improve. No, I don't plan on defending ba...

Well, that's what you get when you allow a team with exactly zero quiz bowl question writing experience write an unedited packet for a guerilla tournament.

All I know is that had I been running the Toronto site again, UWO would not have been asked to write a packet.

Asking tossups about a skier nobody on our team had heard of or about the names of curling and bowling competitions is just a bad idea. I did thin...

On the whole, I liked a good portion of this year's TRASHionals set. I definitely think that it is important for the set to be diverse in eras and genders and not skew too young. Of course, I did have teammates that tended to do well in the "old person trash" and "female trash" part of the set, but ...

I think that, strangely enough, the most advancements in CAQB are coming out of the Toronto area. 1) For the past three years, Rico Catibog has come to moderate NAQT Sectionals, computerized timing and scoring program in tow. This year, he had player statistics completely automated, such that all I ...

It's a criticism of people who, for whatever reason, knowingly use a platform that is harder to find software for, and then use that as an excuse to not run tournaments properly. If you aren't prepared to either find a PC for your tournaments, or create a Mac alternative to SQBS that has all its fu...

I would say that at this point, your Division 2 team is going to need a points per bonus of at least 16 or so in order to get one of the original invitations for teams, unless it won the Sectional, and assuming that NAQT offers ICT invites to all 3 South co-champs.

I can see why people are up in arms over this one; we now are likely going to have two teams with a bonus conversion in the area of 15.5 to 16 losing out on ICT bids to teams with a bonus conversion in the area of 13.5 because of a differing interpretation of the NAQT tiebreaker rule.

Here's what I would have done: I would have used PPTH to seed the teams 1, 2, and 3. Have 2 play 3 in the first tiebreaker for the right to play 1 for the title.
