Re: Brookwood Invitational Scholars Bowl (11/22/08)

Really? HSAPQ gave me the impression that they didn't permit any in-house editing or alterations to their provided questions, and that they would under no circumstances add math computation to their packets. I wonder if this signals a little more flexibility on their part now that they are getting t...

Our experience this year, while shorter than we hoped, was excellent. This is a great example of how to run an orderly tourney. Thanks, Brookwood.

Re: Alabama 08-09

Another step in this direction would be if some of the larger tourneys from the Midwest and/or Northeast offered mirroring opportunities to states like Alabama where funding is very short and where a three-four hour trip is often required to get to a tourney using "good" questions. Not everyone can ...

Re: Alabama 08-09

This is, in fact, the case. Robert was not in attendance, but I didn't get a name update for ISS, so I didn't have a new name to assign to the player in the stats. Mac Lacasse tells me he was missing two of his starters for the tourney, so I think everyone would be wise to be prepared for ISS to be ...

Indeed, it does. I used it this weekend for the 4th Hoover Invitational, and it worked very smoothly for this. However, if you are going to use it for a tourney with bouncebacks, you should go ahead and re-download the program, as Christopher Sewell updated it for me earlier this week when we found ...

For the category quiz, the team that is behind at the start of the CQ quarter will be given the first choice of categories. Re: 4th HIT - Hoover Invitational 11/1/2008

We currently have 19 teams registered for Varsity play and 9 teams for JV play. Ideally, we'd like to get to 24 and 12, so we'll take late sign-ups until further notice. Remember, we are a PACE qualifier, we offer a fee waiver for out-of-state schools, and we are using HSAPQ questions. Contact me at...

It pains me to post this, as I don't like the feeling that I am calling out someone publicly, but I am wondering if anyone else has received any sort of satisfaction following last year's DACQ debacle? Re: What Time Should Tournaments End?

One point worth considering, perhaps--the question for me isn't always when a tourney should end, but when it should BEGIN, particularly if you are hoping to draw out-of-state competitors. For practical reasons this year we are having to travel to and from tourneys on the same day--my varsity team h...

Yes and no. We will maintain the 4 quarter format and scoring, but will be using a category quiz round instead of a worksheet round.
