Just a note to any prospective teammates looking to pick me up off the waiver wire: I have committed to play with WUSTL quizbowler and former UCLA chum Tirth Patel, who knows some biochem and presumably whatever one learns in med school. The duo of us are open to teammates of most any stripe, I guess.

Re: CO History Doubles: 7/22/2012

I will play this, and am looking for a teammate who will promptly write moderately wacky history tossups and is willing to meander through this tournament in my presence. Desire for victory fine, but not required.

I know ancient history and bits and pieces of Euro, American, and World.

Re: Peaceful Resolution Discussion

For whatever my opinion's worth, I don't think the Corinthian War or Hellenistic Cyprus (or ancient Cyprus, for that matter) are worthwhile enough to devote a tossup to. Fine bonus part material, but not more. Also, despite my near-absence from quizbowl outlets, I am willing to dispense free advice ...

If I am indeed doing copy-editing/repeat removal/quality control for this, I would recommend not putting in powers. Or if the consensus goes against that, letting me put them in for the entire set so people have a single person to blame.

Andrew, on the other hand, had his best game of the tournament, racking up six tossups and savvily using his smartphone to help us win a protest, which up until that point had been stalled by Zeke Berdichevsky's insistence that "de" could not be translated as "from" (I think). Rancho Bernardo - 3 teams, 2 buzzers

Arcadia - 6 teams, 1 buzzer
Westview - 1 team

Let me note that my initial process was to edit last year's announcement and lessen the entry fee, plus other minor changes. This did not involve reading last year's thread, in which rates were lowered from an excessive starting rate. I've lowered the entry fee by ten dollars.
