I vehemently object to the Rutter question. "Ken Jennings" is the only defendable answer in the entire bonus, and even then it is not good answer selection. At least you can look up Manheim Township on the website, despite it being meta-knowledge to a horrible degree. The other two answers are not a...

Even on its own terms this is wrong, since Brad's highest NAC finish was second, in 1994.

Quote Website: "The competition focuses on academic information - "significa" rather than "trivia"" I know that my high school had a whole week in which we studied the impact Brad Rutter has on culture. It is nice to see that Chip and his competition are still a bad joke after all these years. Romero

Many of the staff members had various roles in preparing the packets (writing, editting, difficulty checking, playtesting). It is my guess that a dream staff team (say featuring R. and :kenj:) is not possible due to those roles.

Adding to what bjb87 said (and a major contributor to the effect mentioned), the lack of bouncebacks means a team with the depth of knowledge and the speed to dominate the tossups will win. The aim of quizbowl is in fact to reward the team with depth of knowledge and better tossup speed. The effect...

I have sent a letter of protest with regard to the fact that in the SCT that I ran UTD finished ahead of Baylor and got jumped in the bid process. It does not make logical sense. If the formula allows this to happen, then it must be wrong. One ironic aspect of these scenarios is the fact that NAQT r...

I certainly think that no editor or writer purposely neglects grammar. First of all criticizing for capitalization is assinine; it still reads the same way. The other issues are more troublesome and could lead to issues, but as Nathan pointed out it is sometimes necessary for pyramidality to not str...
