Re: 2008 PACE NSC Live Comments and Discussion
I believe I booked the Marriott Fairfax for GH. If anyone is there and wants Dan's cell phone to scrimmage or hang out, hit me up here or via email and I'll put you in touch with him. We'll be there tomorrow night, since staying overnight tonight would be silly, as it is only a 1.5 hour drive. I'm ...

Objection. We played against a lamp. Not a legitimate excuse. Lamps are very powerful players. They are very bright. I'm sorry. Pardon the pun.pblessman wrote:1. Our goldfish was actually a mutant with thumbs... and a HUGE brain... no fair. Next time we'll play against a lamp.

Well, I just sent Rapp's results in, and I must say, this was very fun. We played against a lamp that has moving (mechanically, of course) aqualife inside. And we beat the lamp. Yay!

Re: Is Virginia NAQT States still on??
From what I gather, if all of my math is correct, the top 8 standings were: 1. Maggie Walker A (11-1, 7-1) 2. TJ A (10-2, 6-2) 3. Maggie Walker B (9-2, 5-2) 4. Collegiate (8-3, 4-3) 5. TJ C (7-4, 3-4) 6. TJ B (6-5, 2-5) 7. Cave Spring (5-6, 1-6) 8. Rappahannock (4-7, 1-6) The second record is record...

Re: Is Virginia NAQT States still on??
Yeah, Rapp Co. wishes to be placed in the small school division, but unless other schools like St. Christopher's, Eastern Montgomery, etc. sign up, there won't be one, which is unfortunate. It is certainly harder for small schools to hang with the big dawgs, but that occurs, oh well. I guess a three...

Re: RESULTS: VCU Last-Minute Tournament 2/23/08 @ Collegiate
I just wanted to say that this tournament was awesome, one of the best we've been to. It was definately a great warm-up for states on Saturday. I was a little surprised (happy surprised) that I finished 3rd in individual scoring. I was also amused when TJ A negged 8 times against us. That has never ...

Re: The ultra-big VHSL results thread
AJ (I think that's his name), is particularly amazing on Rapp. I'm flattered. The two teams that I have seen play, GM and Rapp, are both very good this year. The GM team is definitely a step down from the one last year (I humbly admit), but when they're on form, they can blow a lot of people...

Re: The ultra-big VHSL results thread
I wouldn't say we beat you guys soundly. In fact, your stats on the day are far better than ours, in terms of ppm and in terms of p/b. And I'll admit TJ A is very good, but when they played us, they negged 8 times. They still scored 350, I think. And you guys did beat TJ B, a pretty big accomplishme...

Re: The ultra-big VHSL results thread
I don't like to make predictions, because they are often wrong. However, George Mason is very good, but not of the same caliber as last year. They could very well win a back-to-back championship. They aren't well-connected to the quizbowl world mostly because their team can never seem to get togethe...

Rappahannock County would like to be signed up with one team. We have one buzzer system, although we could bring two, but the second one can act rather silly sometimes. In response to Matt, "The sheer amount of of math is pretty high (14%?! it should only be half that, maybe 10% tops), and I think it would be better to have fewer, longer math questions," I disagree. One of the biggest problems in this state is the ability to do math. Limiting the number o...
