Re: Following editor instructions

Gautam is talking more about the fact that some teams don't bother to submit "auditory arts" or "philosophy" into packets, or they don't write at least five tossups on literature. Each of these violations necessitates writing more material from scratch. Yeah, Ike's got it. Here's a basic set of thi...

Re: Open tournaments and team-building

If the price of entry to a quizbowl tournament nowadays is starting an entire new student organization from scratch, the vast majority of current players would be priced out of the market. Writing a quarter packet once per tournament is a reasonable amount of effort to demand from an ordinary playe...

Re: ACF Fall 2014 - General Discussion

I really liked the set -- I think it's by far the most interesting and well-crafted ACF Fall there's been in years, in terms of creating questions that weren't just 'the millionth novice tossup on cholesterol' or what have you. Much of that came from this editing team's admitted willingness to spic...

Louisville is spelled incorrectly in the name of the packet to which we contributed, which is a grievous mistake that must be corrected. Are any CA area teams willing to mirror this? I'd be interested in playing if there was a convenient mirror.

I know the next 3 weekends are out (Penn Bowl, that HS tournament, T-giving) and Dec 13th is probably too close to finals for some, which leaves Dec 6th as a viable option (maybe?)

I don't know if it was me, but this tournament seemed to have a lot more Graeco-Roman myth and film questions than usual. I found the fact that we heard three tossups on colors, two on "red" and one on "blue," pretty gimmicky. Packetizing is a long and tedious process. There are some ways of making it faster and less error-prone.
