Re: Gaddis II Thanks and Discussion

I just want to say that even though I left early due to crippling hunger/sucking at questions this hard, I had a great time. It's a neat experience to be taking down notes on answers not because I need to remember what something was, but merely because it sounded really interesting and would be wort...

Sadly we have to cancel the tournament. I think that there wasn't really enough notice for many teams to register, so hopefully by announcing things farther in the future we won't have this problem.

Can the mods edit in the cancellation to the thread title?

Centre Spring Invitational (Canceled)

The Centre College Quizbowl Club is happy to announce our first ever tournament, occurring on Saturday May 2nd, 2009. The tournament will be run using HSAPQ's ACF set #4, which means the questions will be good. The cost for the tournament is $80, but with $10 discounts for buzzers and moderators. Th...

Re: Excel quiz bowl scoresheets

So I tinkered with the PACE sheet and made one for the KAAC Quick Recall format. When a tossup is answered, the question below it turns blue, indicating that it was a bonus. If people have any questions about it or suggestions for how I can make it better, I'd love to hear them.

As for Silberman's Axiom itself, I will oppose it on the grounds of distributive justice. I can think of no rule better suited to ensure that smaller, newer programs are unable to raise money and get themselves off the ground. You do realize you have essentially said that newer programs should be a...

From reading at Vandy, I have to say that Johnson Central looked really impressive. I also thought that duPont Manual was pretty good. Their captain pulled off some amazing buzzes on the physics. If they can get a team to support him in non science areas, they have the potential to be a force.

The Centre team hasn't really had this problem. We've been practicing ACF Fall mostly, our one experiment with Regionals didn't go that well. Do many of your teammates have experience with playing before? When we played the Regs packet, only the people had had played before were buzzing.

My team at Centre is very small (five people), and as such probably won't get a lot of school funding. What are your tips for fund raising? I know that hosting tournaments is supposed to be the best way to raise money but I don't think I'd have enough staff to run a large field. Thanks in advance.
