To clarify the "State" tournament Andy is referencing, I think it is run by the MSU honors college and not the quiz bowl team.

Chicago's DI team won DI. Michigan (DII) defeated Chicago's DII team in a one-game final to win the DII section of the tournament. All three teams finished the round robin at 9-1.

Thanks to everyone for helping to make this tournament go smoothly. Thankfully, nothing went seriously wrong.
DCC won over DCD, with GPN and Ottawa Hills making it to the semis.

Unfortunately, we will not be able to expand the field this year. We were not able to guarantee enough moderators to run a larger tournament efficiently. Hopefully we will have enough moderators to support larger tournaments in the future.

It might help if you played a set or two in practice with everyone playing by themselves on tossups. In theory, that would get rid of worries about more knowledgeable teammates, and negs (if you count them) wouldn't "hurt" as much since missed questions will end up spread out among many players rath...

I know that there were moderator evaluation forms at HSNCT. Were those just for NAQT purposes, or will we get to see what teams thought of our reading some time?

In terms of reading speed, I've always thought the best pace was as to read as fast as possible while staying understandable.

I think that the tossup on ground rule(which was the right answer) should not have accepted ground rule double because the question did not specifically mention doubles. It mentions "any rule specific to a ball park" or something along that line that did not specify doubles. We didn't get that far....
