Re: South Carolina Challenge (12/5/09)

James Island lost in the first round of the playoffs, but Aiken and Riverside competed in the finals, and Aiken beat Riverside in the finals to take the USC Challenge, and win the overall title. 30 teams competed, as Riverside won the 3A title. Good thing that taking more teams and running single-e...

The final results of the First Tiger Academic Challenge: 1. Southside 2. Dorman A semifinalists: Dorman B, Dorman C I believe both teams in the finals were playing without their usual line-up but it was nonetheless a good game. We appreciate all the teams coming out to participate and we look forwar...

Re: Alpharetta JV Tournament (10/31/09)- Fall Novice Mirror

NAQT Nationals- has the clock determine the number of tossups in a game (so its usually anywhere b/w 18 and 26) and many different structures of bonus. without bouncebacks. PACE Nationals- has always had 28 tossups a game with three different bonus structures (although this is supposed to change) wi...

I'm actually more surprised that I haven't heard from more of the regulars from your neck of the wooods--Alpharetta, Brookwood, Walton,...

Re: IS set answer selection discussion

The example I always think of when people mention NAQT's odd answer choices is one I remember from like my junior year which was a tossup on "paper bag." I'm pretty sure it was NAQT but I'm not positive. If so, I think it was in the IS-60s. Any way you could post that tossup here for old time's sake?

Re: Distribution of Brookwood Invitational Scholars Bowl

I know for a fact that Dorman's Cav Challenge, the biggest tournament in South Carolina (100+ teams), has used a "social studies" subdistribution for the past three years, similiar to the BISB. So I suppose we share that unique quizbowl flavor with Georgia.

Re: Minnesota '07-'08

1. Is it beneficial for an already decent player? As Adam already said, the great thing about the ACE camps is that you get a real idea of what "decent player" actually means. You are able to get a much better sense of your individual development and how you stack up against other players across the...

Okay. The moment that you’ve all been waiting for is finally upon us. Needless to say, this announcement brings the total nu...

Dorman would probably be attending on either weekend, but the 20th of April would work much much better.

Either way, we would much appreciate it if an official decision could be made in the next week or two.

great tourney

The tournament did end a bit later than most tournaments do, but I suppose that’s excusable since it was their first. Actually, being that it was the first tournament they have hosted, we were super impressed with the moderators we had and the fairly quick transition between rounds. I suppose anot...
