I think a balance is good. Freshmen need to see what good quizbowl is like, and that requires them to go against the varsity sometimes. They also need to buzz in sometimes and hear some questions that get to an accessible level for them, and that requires them to practice separate from the varsity ...

We may or may not get 16 teams, so this may not be relevant, but I'd like to confirm that the newly-named HAVOC (formerly known as Maggie Walker's unnamed JV tournament) is a PACE qualifier based on my conversation with Dr. Chuck at WoQ.
