I would be interested in attending, with or without my coach! (He doesn't like out of state trips)

Field

Are we not getting a field update because the only teams attending are Bergen County, Kellenberg and us (Ward Melville) are the only ones attending? Those are the only teams I saw posting on this forum, and with no posts by HSW, those are the only schools I know are attending....

Our coach does pretty much nothing, lets the teams go where they need and sits in the cafeteria just grading papers. We sometimes even go to tournaments without him! Even in practices, he pretty much sits in the background grading while one of our more senior members reads practice questions. Lately...

I saw there was a pokemon packet, and I was wondering if I could get an e-copy of it, or is there a fee? I didn't see anything in the previous posts. My e-mail is dinoian -at- yahoo -dot- com

Knowledge Master Open Fall 2007

How did people do at the KMO this year? What did you all think of the difficulty? Harder than last year, easier? Our school got in the mid 1500s.

I hope to attend with Ward Melville, looking forward to another great tournament with such random lighting round topics as "A category about nothing" which featured Seinfeld 2 years ago, and the Pokemon category 2 years ago, as well as the Family Guy category last year. Are these lightning rounds ho...

I would love to go, but my team (along with some other NY teams) would be slightly depleted because of New York's Science Olympiad state competition. Also, my coach doesn't really like to do out of state trips, so basically we only go to LIFT and the Hills West Tournament, so that would be preventin...

I tried talking to him, but he wrote me off by saying that this is what has worked. He may just claim this because our school won Long Island Challenge (a show like It's Academic!) a few years back, and this was the method he used to choose the teams.

The way our school chooses the teams is extremely screwed up. For the first 6 weeks (we meet once each week), we have rooms of 8 people all competing against one another, right answers worth 2 points, wrong -1 EVEN AFTER THE QUESTION IS FINISHED . Not only that, but we use Great Auk questions for al...

My worst loss (Ward Melville) was something like 600-90 against Stuyvesent A at LIFT VI. We got completely obliterated, but combined the two teams answered all 20 questions. They were powering every other question! This year, I hope we can narrow the margin to about a 450-200 loss! When I played the...
