I also have one tape from the 1995 NAC, about four games worth. It includes the televised tournament, as James Island plays a game, and there's two games from the Amanda Goad Governor's School team, one against Grand Rapids City.

The only reason we're going is to give more experience for the younger players we're bringing (2 freshmen and a sophomore). The JV we're in only has 7 teams.

I don't know how many teams we can get, because most schools in the state have spring break during this next week (including Columbia and Charleston schools).

It would be a good idea perhaps to move the tournament to another date.

We played the Augusta Christian B team at the tournament, and they only scored 10 points the whole game on our team.

We have the Charleston County finals tonight. Academic Magnet is automatically in it, and Wando and James Island are in the semifinals.

Wow, that's surprising, Elliott. James Island will be at the tournament. Ninety-five teams is a big number for any tournament. Dorman gets this every year. That's why it's one of the best tournaments. Hinesville is closer to here, as it's only 2 1/2 hours from here. They should have it in Macon ever...

Because here, what they call quiz bowl for many schools is the QUEST tournament. The tournament used to have as many as 5,000 participants, and almost every school in the Lowcountry still brings a team. The QUEST tournament at Trident Technical College is being held the same day. All of the teams from Berkeley, Charleston, and Dorchester County will be at the tournament, as it is the biggest tournament in the year for us. It would be good to move the date.

Actually, each class has its own champion, which depends on how far you get in the tournament. Aiken won in 4A, Riverside in 3A for finishing 2nd, and Southside Christian for losing in their round.

James Island lost in the first round of the playoffs, but Aiken and Riverside competed in the finals, and Aiken beat Riverside in the finals to take the USC Challenge, and win the overall title. 30 teams competed, as Riverside won the 3A title.

Many of the smaller SC teams, including James Island, will not be able to make the tournament because of the University of South Carolina tournament on that day.

Well, the 12/12 date conflicts with the Chattahoochee tournament, which is a big tournament in the GA/SC area. 12/19, however, conflicts with most Christmas breaks, and teams wouldn't want to go then. 12/12 is probably the better date.

I think Atlanta or Charlotte would be the best cities to have NAQT nationals. Charlotte has a big airline hub (US Airways), is a rather large city, and you could have it at one of several hotels downtown. A problem is if you held it the same weekend as the Coca-Cola 600, you'd have a lot of traffic....

We (James Island) might be interested in bringing a team to this tournament. Our coach keeps saying the wrong date, as she says it's October 30th and 31st, when it's actually November 6th and 7th.

I didn't know Nashville had their own show. I've never heard of Pope John Paul II in any quiz bowl competition, except for maybe Ezell-Harding.

This doesn't represent NAQT, as MLK (one of the top teams in the nation) lost by 140 points to the Webb School on the first week of the show.

The scenario that came up was no. 1, as Jesuit protested, that they were the same, and Chip walked out of the room, called an expert on his cellphone, said the answer was right, and they then got the 10 and 15 point questions.
