Don't count on me winning anything big next year though. heh. well, you definitely have the depth of knowledge and you're not bad at trash (well as far as NAQT trash correlates to ASS level trash an...

I'm in support of using the "5 star" system just as a fun way to reveal the caliber of each packet. I'm not playing, but if I were, I would understand that going to the tournament itself would make me expect a certain level of difficulty, and that even if I were to play on a "1 star" packet, I shoul...

Questions can be read quickly and still with great clarity -- case in point, ZOT bowl was able to cover each round in under 30 minutes, and these were 20 ACF-style questions.

Re: ANNOUNCEMENT: Sun 'n Fun Mirror - Maryland - Sat, 6/21

What bothered me more was that the books given out at the end were pretty horrible. I'm completely serious about this: if you are going to give out books out at all, please make sure that they are not just some random, useless things no one would want... 1) the team hosting the tournament decides h...

so, after talking about it with my parents (you know, the under 18 routine), it looks like I'll be able to come. However, I need a team, so it'd be nice if some team of free agents will consider taking me. email me at auronigupta AT gmail DOT com if you're interested.

Re: Southern California 08-09

I wouldn't quickly rank SaMo at the bottom -- they have to replace some pretty strong players, but their B team is still fairly good. Whereas TP's B team to pyramidal tournaments pretty much consists of whoever else wants to go, but we'll probably see Stephen, Vivek, and the like play on the A team....

Re: Stipends for Coaches and Moderators

maybe if your high school has a budget of INFINITY DOLLARS, you could consider it. For the vast majority of high schools, not only is this not feasible, but it detracts from the funds going directly to support the program. And those funds are there to ensure that teams from the school are able to re...

Are giveaways that change the subject of the question appropriate to use? For example, in the 06-07 HSNCT set, there's a question that talks about the use of a character in different computer programming situations. Then the giveaway is "FTP,-name this interrogative punctuation mark." That bothers ...

A whole bunch of my friends were in it my freshman year, but I stupidly decided that I wouldn't have time for it (I actually didn't have any ECs that year, so wtf.) Then I decided I'd give it a try sophomore year, and have pushed everything else aside and been a part ever since.

Due to my incredibly limited interaction with the national circuit, I can only speak for the SoCal circuit. In that circuit, the best player I have possibly seen is Jeffrey from Rancho Bernardo. It's true that RB isn't as highly ranked as SaMo is, but the knowledge on the SaMo team is pretty evenly ...

Torrey Pines will be sending one team to HSNCT, which will be all of our seniors (and might be a bit problematic for creating a line-up). Also, we plan to attend the Caltech A-series tournament this saturday; are any of your teams going?
