Re: Let's talk QBWiki sucking

Well, I'm arguing that how it is now is fine and that the real suck about the QBWiki is people not updating or writing stuff and not the lack of (un-)funny anecdotes.

Re: Let's talk QBWiki sucking

I'd like the make the argument that some things dealing with people are important. Tournament results, writing experience, editing experience, and TDing experience are all quite useful when discussing a player's merits in this, that, or those. However, aside from that I agree that most personal stuf...

Re: Let's talk QBWiki sucking

As it stands, the QBWiki still has some pretty valuable information so I don't think torching it is the best idea. Also, I'm pretty sure that getting rid of humor isn't some time consuming demon which prevents actual work from getting done. Rather, actual work isn't getting done because no one is pu...

Re: Let's talk QBWiki sucking

So... what's the point of adding in-jokes into the QBWiki? All it seems to do is create an in-group mentality, slander people, and decrease the professionalism in the wiki. I'm all for jokes, but keep it somewhere where it doesn't interfere with the professionalism that should be going on in QBWiki....

Re: Let's talk QBWiki sucking

Isn't the idea to make QBWiki a legitimate source of information about quizbowl for new teams and not just a compendium of inside jokes within the quizbowl community? I'm all for inside jokes and such, but I think QBWiki has a larger purpose that needs to be served here.

Last year's almost certainly was. Again, i reference Halldor Laxness. He's the only Icelandic Nobel Laureate, you should know him! Jacob Durst also says that he's a legitimately great author. Re: Southeastern Quizbowl

Not having a very active good high school quizbowl circuit is definitely a big problem. There's not a lot of hosting going on in the area. Geography is definitely an issue when going to tournaments. Out of the 6-8 or so tournaments we attend every year, only 1 or 2 are trips where we don't have to s...

Re: BHS Quizcub: JV/MS Hybrid (GA)

Also, for the JV division, an NAQT-A set would be really appropriate to use. Again, the A-set is good because it's more pyramidal and lacks unnecessary trivia. This isn't actually an option, because all four of this year's A-series sets are being used at other Georgia tournaments. Shouldn't this be...

Re: Prison Bowl IV @ Hunter HS, NYC (3/5/2011)

I haven't seen or heard the set, but for future reference, I think it's pretty objectionable to have half a set be harder than the other half. For one, this can cause a myriad of difficulties for mirrors like Charlie's and other mirrors that won't have a 5 game RR then 5 game playoff format. It's ha...

Re: Southeastern Quizbowl

Well, my idea with more novice to novice plus tournaments was that since the circuit is so weak right now, we need a way to start to strengthen it first. Then, we can work towards harder difficulties. I suppose we have a lot of novice to novice plus tournaments, but the Southeast is a big region, an...

I think that that's definitely a good level to start off with in the circuit. Eh, I think that being familiar with someone's cadence and style of reading helps a little bit. Additionally, it's hard to be co...

Read over your questions before and after you make editorial changes.
