I know I would love for their to be some kind of solo or duo tournament at the HSNCT, and I think that would be a really good idea because so many good players and teams from HS are there, so we could all try to get our feet wet in the college circuit. Of course it wouldn't be affiliated with CO ...

For anyone who hasn't rented a car for this weekend yet, check this out: http://forums.slickdeals.net/showthread.php?sduid=0&t=462867 You can get the equivalent of one full round trip flight in Southwest Rapid Rewards credits by renting through Hertz for 2 or more days. Also, I think nearly two "full" tournaments (i.e. those featuring both tossups and bonuses, as opposed to singles tournaments, which of course merely feature tossups) would be pretty exhausting for the players and the readers if you did it all in one day. Yeah obviously we'd do it Friday or Sunday ...

There has been some discussion of holding a masters tournament alongside HSNCT for those staffing. Since it's in Chicago and many of the top players in the country offer their services to NAQT in exchange for room and travel for the weekend anyway, it seems like an ideal way to get a bunch of people ...

Also, now that you mention UNC.....why aren't they coming to ACF nats? They took two teams to Penn Bowl, but can't take one to ACF nationals? Also, TAMU is so low because two of the accepted submissions did not rank them. Most people also did not ...

That tossup is much better and more pyramidal, and I guess I didn't see the packet with the Cry tossup. ACF rules still would have allowed Paton, though, if you were clever with clues. I still think that's heavy on Gordimer and gives clues about two fairly obscure works. For a novice tournament I'd ...

I should make it clear that I appreciate Mike's hard work on the packets and know that he had serious time problems that largely weren't his fault. My recommendation is that any editor should write lots of extras before the editing starts, or, in a case like Mike's this time, anticipate the lateness ...

Well, I guess I will post this after all, since it needs to be said. This question set was a travesty. Yes, most of the tossups were largely pyramidal and had appropriate answers (although there are several notable examples of the opposite), but the problems I'm talking about have to do with grammar ...

ACF
The idea that ACF is facing its not-so-gradual demise seems to be a recurring theme in threads of late. The fact is that the way things are going, this is most likely true. The first to go will be regionals, because nationals is a one-site tournament that is worth it to enough teams to remain viable ...

All right all, it's time again for the annual pre-nationals poll. ACF Regionals Southwest - Results
Believe it or not there was an ACF regionals in the Southwest, held at the University of Tulsa. Five teams competed (2 OU, Texas, House Team, and UNT) and despite the presence of only one buzzer we all had a great time (and played 11 games in 13 rounds). Texas went undefeated to win the tournament ...

Well, I'd like to preface this with two comments: 1) I thought this year's questions were a VAST improvement over the much-pilloried-by-Jerry sword bowl of last year. 2) The following statement comes with no preconceived notion of what may have happened and thus does not immediately assume the guilt ...
