I don't have any problems with names of places being asked about as such. What I hate is questions like, "this river is x miles long and flows through y province blah blah." It's like bad biography. I would like to see geography questions focus on the historical or cultural (or whatever) ...

As far as I'm concerned a creative work in any media deserves the same level of stringency or lack thereof, there's no difference b/t musical composition and literary composition in regards to titles. E.g. I've seen _Tale of Genji_ or _Genji monogatari_ underlined; I think it should be _Genji_ mono...

[quote="allythin While I realize different campuses have different particulars, I once was at a TRASH regs the same day as a UIUC football game and there was almost no conflict (other than us barely getting out before the game crowd). If the tournament site is an appropriate distance from the g...

If these players were so great at "preparing for the game" then why didn't they do it for the new, more knowledge-dependent game? Perhaps they were just good at buzzer races and fraudulent play. What players are you referring to? Specific names could bolster/wreck your argument. Clearly y...

The only way to actually get CBI to alter either their general demeanor or their question quality would be to attack them where it hurts: the bank account. All they care about is making money, and so as long as they can keep university student unions in the dark about the now arguably unorthodox pr...

But if (hypothetically) an inaccurate or mis-structured or racist or otherwise crappy question were put into the pack, or if an existing question were altered crappily by the editor, the listed authors of the pack may be rather displeased by having their names and only their names attached to the p...

2. slander and libel are impossible on a message board...no one here, by their comments (whether true or not), has the power to significantly negatively affect another person's life in such a way that it could be called slander/libel - even if I make the most hurtful boldfaced unevidenced lie about...

4) I also have no idea what Nathan is talking about. How is a tossup on John Austin a "mistake"? He's only the most influential British philosopher of the post-WWII era. Assuming John L. Austin was worthy of being a tossup, I think the problem most people had with it was the fact that the...

Due to a lack of interest, Dickey has been cancelled for this semester (October 2). We hope to reschedule in the spring semester sometime. Keep your eyes peeled for the rescheduling and please consider attending. It is sure to be an affordable, high quality, and challenging yet accessible tournament...

Wow. William Gilmore Simms. As a good South Carolinian, I wouldn't mind seeing him come up some. But seeing as how I've never even seen him come up as a bonus question, I don't think I'll be writing anything on him. Interesting suggestion, though. Even if it was in jest.

This business of Richard Reid (whoever he is: been a while since I've played CBI) knocking on other formats (and the people that play them), interests me not so much for being tasteless but more because it seems odd that CBI is actually acknowledging their competition. For as long as I can remember,...

Shelley Writes: "Anyways...unlike the vast majority of the posters...i WILL NOT be playing in college, mostly because I hate, hate, hate trash and NAQT (synonomous, right?)." As a USC Honors College Alum and current USC law student, you can't go wrong with the HC but Rice and Princeton are...
