Re: List of 2011-2012 tournaments

Fred, this is a pretty neat thing you're doing here. However, in the event you're going to go back and make some changes as soon as more tournaments develop, Ohio State announced that their 10/15 date claim will be a Fall Novice Tournament mirror, and they're going to push back their Houswrite until...

Re: High school tournaments and timed rounds

HSNCT would fall apart without timed rounds. NAQT does an excellent job with logistics. I realize the elevator situation is out of NAQT's control, but having to get from the bottom meeting room to a room on the 21st floor in like 15 minutes (or whatever time) between game 6 and game 7 when three of...

Ok, here's my two cents. I don't think there would be a dramatic reduction in NAQT's customer base if trash were eliminated. I think that people who want to do academic competition do it for academic competition, not to test their pop culture knowledge, and eliminating the trash won't drive away to...

On a somewhat more credible note, however, NY Times Complete History of the World isn't a bad resource. Granted, its not as light nor humorous as Molvania, but its not bad to read.

I said an EASIER Marvin Gaye bonus. I agree that the bonus as it stands is a bit too hard, but asking for like Gaye/Let's Get It On/Terrell or whatever would be perfectly acceptable. Your bonus is fine (could use a harder hard part if your'e just taking Gibb for Andy Gibb), but it's a different bon...

I don't understand why that is so much better than an (easier) bonus on Marvin Gaye. Your proposed bonus is arguably harder, to be honest, depending on the clues used. Having a Marvin Gaye bonus with answer lines of Tami Terrell, his father and "Let's Get It On" would require more than minimal know...

I don't think it would have been a bad idea for the Marvin Gaye bonus to instead be a 70's/80's pop/R&B bonus on artists/groups (just like the 80's drummer bonus). An example (Disclaimer: Don't know if Andy Gibb and George Michael are really 70's/80's pop/R&B) would be Marvin Gaye/Andy Gibb/George M...
