The thing about the region is that everyone is so good. For what it's worth, I really did not like the questions used at states. Not to downplay any of the upsets or anything, because as I said, the region is so good that they are definately going to happen, but there was something about them that j...

in hamlet, hamlet does accuse claudius of whoring his mother, and if you watch the gibson movie (i have seen the olivier, gibson, branagh, and hawke versions of hamlet), during the scene where hamlet is with his mother in her bedchamber, he has her in a certain position on the bed and the headboard...

Today on Kevin "the undead" Keegan's Quizmaster Challenge TV show:

Buzz: Sacco and Vanzetti
Answer: King Tut

There was a visual (black and white) which showed to males standing around. The offending player later claimed that the men "looked italian."

RM A and B are now the only two undefeated teams. I don't know why my coach gave them such an easy schedule (which does not feature RM A, Blake A or WJ A) while slamming us with both Blake and RM A. RM B won last year. I assume that's why. Still, playoffs will force all of us to play each other, so...

Quizmaster Invitational results

Since our resident Blake webmaster, Mike Braun, is a bit busy right now, I have been encouraged to post the results from the 2004 Quizmaster Invitational Tournament, held at Blake HS in Silver Spring, MD. So, here they are: Playoff teams* (out of a field of about 30) 1) Richard Montgomery A 2) Walte...

I've seen the timer employed well, and I've seen it employed terribly. These experiences have led me to believe that, while the timer itself is an excellent solution to absurdly long tournaments, it can be VERY problematic when horribly mismanaged. Fortunately, TJ this year (and any other time I've ...

Someone on my team buzzed when it began "Oscar Robertson attended a high school" and said Cincinatti (which is, I believe, where he played in college). Apparently, he also attended Crispus Attucks high school. And a few more: Smallpox and Solar Eclipse for El Nino Microscope for Submarine Zimmerman ...

The onion juice for smog is only really funny because, although it was a buzz right after "irritates the eyes," the question had already stated that it contained formaldehyde, acrolein, and peroxy-acetyl nitrate.

Camp was pretty great. Both minor subjects (art and music) were extremely informative and covered material I remember coming up frequently at PACE and other tournaments. Terrill Wilkins (Dorman, class of 03) did the art lecture, and told us stories about obscure art tossups he'd gotten. The majors w...
