Depending on the date you select, you could probably get us to come, whether NAQT or house-written, though I think we're slated to play all but one set (IS-66). 1. Sounds like rooms won't be a problem, but don't forget about getting enough buzzers. For the first tournament, you might want to think a...

Both prelim and playoff stats should be up in a day or two as soon as I get a free moment to correct a couple of errors (none of which would have affected prelim seedings) and to type up playoff scores.

I can verify the information above. Full playoff results will follow soon, but Dorman was seeded first after prelims, just a few PPG ahead of TJ A, so they did quite well there. I didn't get to see them play any matches, but I did see many score sheets. State College beat them in the semifinals by a...

I'll echo the sentiments of those before me and say this was a pretty well-run tournament despite the repeats and a few really out-there answer choices. Maggie Walker won at UMD with a final score of 585-500 against TJ A, who kept very close throughout. It was the first time the four of us on MW were playing together on the It's Academic format, so we were really surprised to make it as far as we did. It was a great match, and it wasn't until the gr...

And since I can't edit my post, I'll state here that the evidence in favor of an earlier malfunction instead of a later one is strengthened by looking at the player's playoff stats (I had been looking at the prelims)...70 ppg with only 1 power. The buzzers WERE tested before the game, and they were all working and in order. The buzzer in question worked properly for at least a few questions into the related TU/B round (as the player had gotten the third question). Also, though it may not be as relevant to this situation, PACE does have saf...

They had a similar run at PACE last year with only three players on the A team (with the fourth flying in for the playoffs). An undefeated three man team with no close games and several broken records in terms of scoring. I can't think of any teams this year that could have pulled that off.

To add on to the results, State College A beat Maggie Walker A 360-330 I think. State College would have had to then beat RichMo twice for the championship. They pulled off one win by 100+ points, then lost the second of the finals matches by 85 or so from what I hear. State College had a 70 point s...

Another problem I've encountered is that tossups at the end of a game end up messing up a normally close game if ungettable. Thus, I feel a well-written packet should at least consider the situation where the game is neck and neck until that last tossup and so the last tossup may decide the game.

I think you should try to go for 16-team double elim for playoffs. The play-in round often just involves two teams of uneven level playing with the top teams essentially destroying the bottom teams. Another possible format may be, depending on the number of teams, to give top 8 after 6 rounds an aut...

Some of the stats seem a bit flawed. For example, 284 TUs heard by Maggie Walker A and Princess Anne? Also, there may have been some score misentries, as I don't think we (Gov C) scored 9 PPB in our game against St. Chris (I think this number came from the fact that our total score was mis-entered)....
