Re: building the strongest team

I definitely agree with the commitment > talent argument. One of our A-team players hasn't attended practice for a couple of weeks because of college apps and whatnot, and there's been a definite decline in his playing skills, and a definite increase in that of the rest of the team.

Sorry to bump this thread, but does anyone know if it's possible to run Anderson buzzers on batteries? One of my more technologically literate teammates attached a battery to a Judge buzzer system, which can now operate for a couple of hours without needing to be plugged in, and I was wondering if t...

This is a notice that tournament fees have been changed slightly, namely:
  • Early registration discount raised to $10 per team from $5 per team
  • Staff member discount raised to $15 per team from $10 per team
  • Late registration fee penalty wording slightly altered

From my experience, fees have been around $70 to $80 for the each team with a $10 discount for each additional team, though novice tournaments are generally cheaper at $50 to $60 per team. Buzzers and moderators generally give a $5 to $10 discount, and distance discounts range from $5 for every fift...

From what I've heard and noticed throughout my quizbowl experience, powers appear to be widely regarded as a gimmick - they provide the emotional rush of "powering" a question and enable somewhat easier differentiation of knowledge depth in stats, but more often than not have no effect on the overal...

The new UI is interesting. I haven't tried multiplayer mode yet, but the bright blues are a little distracting. I think the "advanced search" function is missing, and a very minor issue is that you can't click the links at the bottom until a query has been searched.

How to Study Lesser-known Myth Systems

Hello, everyone. In studying mythology, I've come across a sort of dilemma. Whereas major myth systems (Greco-Roman, Norse, Hindu, etc.) have intact primary sources to study, I haven't come across significant primary sources for lesser-known myth systems like those of the Aztecs and the Egyptians, a...
