The by-law says your team can't do more than 18 dates, and any player can't do 18 dates, as separate sections. I'd bet that a fresh-soph date wouldn't count against your varsity limit (though I'm not sure), but that's one less varsity event that any player at that fresh-soph event can do.

According to my understanding, bylaw changes proposed at this point can't take effect until 2015-16, so I think next year teams from IHSA member schools are still subject to the rule of 18 dates, one out-of-IHSA-season date; furthermore, interpretation changes (which the 4-on-4 loophole was one of)...

That's how much of an improvement it was -- it was so significantly better as to suggest such outlandish things in the hopes of positive change. If you have a nationals-level leadin in a tossup in a regular season tournament, you're intentionally taking tossup clue space and throwing it over the heads of a staggering percentage of your audience....

Copying definitions is not plagiarism in the context of quizbowl (actual plagiarism: copying old question). Questions don't generally cite sources and there's nothing wrong with that (and most the exceptions to this rule seem to be humorous citations of Wikipedia). People made (admittedly terrible)...
