Should NASAT tryouts be planned to be held on this day? I unfortunately won't be able to make it to this tournament, but this is probably as good as any tournament to start deciding Team Virginia.

A Series of Unfortunate Events has given me exposure to tons of stuff just through the puns and allusions made, which has gotten me stuff some very weird knowledge pockets over the years from reading about stuff that is name-dropped in it.

A couple of tournaments in, I personally believe that RM is the best team in the DC Metro area. Although they've really only won one tournament thus far, their stats are consistently the highest in the area, especially in terms of bonus conversion, where they outstrip every other team in the region....

In round 14, in the tossup on Olmecs, the first clue refers to it possibly being a descendant of the Xia dynasty. While I don't know too much about Central and South American history, isn't that also something that could apply to the Shang Dynasty in China?

When you say "first year of quizbowl", would it be considered their first year of quizbowl if they had never previously competed in a non-VHSL event and had only observed, and not played, in VHSL events?

Joking aside about negging (which I have no doubt they'll do more than a drunken Raynor......), where would everyone rank a revamped GDS with Tajin and Noah in the area? They have great overlap in a lot of parts of their knowledge, but that doesn't mean that they still won't be formidable next year.

Can you post the Brecht tossup? I remember hearing epic theater in the early part of the clue and not wanting to buzz in because I figured it would be too easy of a leadin for Brecht. I think Thomas from Blair thought the same, which lead to a buzzer race once we were definitely sure of the answer.

Original day would be best for me/Western Albemarle, and Sundays also work fine here, though I understand any hesitancy about putting the date on a Sunday. I would only be going if it were that weekend though, since I won't be able to go during the AP frenzy.

Let's not forget that in OM's last game played against WJ, we lost by 10 points (after negging 5 times)! Sameen's improved a lot, but so have we. I think there's an error in the stats; don't think that Gonzaga got 23 tossups in a 20/20 format against GDS in the first game of the afternoon matches, which brought down their ppb for the day. Great tournament by the way, I thought it was well run, and it finished early, which is incredible to me....

Nobody on Western Albemarle has shown too much inclination to study either, let alone go to tournaments with me, so it'll most likely be me solo at most tournaments.
