Lack of interest among the team members, combined with budgetary concerns stemming from the horribly overpriced intramural question set.

1/(-i) = (1(i))/((-i)(i)) = i/(-(i)^2) = i/1 = i

Edit: i would have accepted the answer. prompting on math questions is pretty brutal if you only give a few extra seconds to extract the simplified form.

Team A answers a tossup and therefore earns a bonus. Team A may have beaten out Team B by only a millisecond to that tossup. To lock out 20-30 bonus points because of the knowledge based on ONE tossup which MAY have been earned only by a millisecond is NOT rewarding knowledge. Lee: it isn't that te...

NAQT: Berkeley looked awfully good last year. If it hadn't been for an out-of-this-world performance by Subash, they'd be going for a three-peat this year. Since I don't think Subash is playing, I'll pick them to win back-to-back titles. Has that ever been done? I assume that Florida, Michigan, Ill...

Just to clarify, my team did not "insist" that Princeton and Michigan play a final game. I supported my teammate Leo's idea of holding a final on the last playoff packet, because I thought that, regardless of the winner, it would be decisive in deciding who was the best team after our first two game...

Thanks a lot to Cornell for hosting the tournament and writing packets and to Berkeley for allowing their packets to be used. For the most part the packets were well-written and of appropriate difficulty. Now the inevitable rant. Once again I am on a team that garnered the most wins over the course ...

I voted for my team. It always comes down to Michigan, Berkeley and Chicago (and maybe Florida on NAQT q's). Berkeley is a big question mark right now as far as their nationals lineups so I can't in good faith vote for them, plus they lost their best overall ACF player in Seth. I'd probably put Chic...

okay, to your first complaint: the questions. I don't understand what you are complaining about...it is perfectly fine, in my opinion, to start a question out with "This mongol leader" or "This English author", because there are more than one of them. If anyone is buzzing in there, they are playing...

Why don't you require that the teams that are attending write questions? Why is UTC always begging for freelance questions? These two questions may be related.

I think as of right now the question marks on Andrew's team will be Adam Kemezis and Leo Wolpert, if this influences anyone in their choices. I voted for the Hilleman/Hentzel/Waters team...I think Emily Pike is playing with them too, and that team without Waters won the tournament two years ago, whi...

Too bad the strength of schedule factor isn't weighted enough to prevent the winner from the Pacific Northwest from being invited.

Anyone else think this sectional should not exist?

Honestly does anyone really care who the 48th ranked high school team in Michigan is? Beyond the top 5 or 10, it seems rather arbitrary. And hell, it's creepy that some guy who's been out of high school for a few years, didn't even play for a contending school, and has no affiliation with any curren...
