If I am not mistaken, this is a default of the software, and perhaps the ties would, for this format, be better broken by points per tossup heard. I don't think that will matter in NAQT's "secret formulation" of the Nationals qualifiers, though... Someone please correct me if I am wrong about the so...

The packet also didn't run out on either of our D2 teams. Examining the stats, they frequently heard 18-21 tossups, though they did have some incidents of 13 or 15 (and I see another game in D2 which only got to 12). Yeah, that was us (Div II, Michigan A), first round... we buzzed on all twelve of ...

I attended that event... I always enjoyed the format because it was fast-paced and different from all the other events held that year (usually NAQT). You could easily rack up a huge score, and I always found that exciting. The questions weren't terrific, but they weren't bad. The answers matched up ...

Sara Garnett from Okemos was, I believe, the top scoring female at NAQT Nationals last year, and having played against her several times, I can attest to her greatness. I think she's at UNC Chapel Hill now. What made her great, in my opinion, was that she played very agressively and was not afraid t...

I would recommend NOT having your team see Troy, only because of the vast number of factual inaccuracies. If possible, have one of your team members read the Iliad/Odyssey.

You might have problems finding moderators in the area due to the overlapping ACF Fall tournament in Chicago the same day - many talented readers will certainly be drawn there instead, sadly.

Good luck in your search!

Ok, I didn't even attend this tournament, but there is definitely something wrong with the sample question. Usually, the pronouns in the question match up with the desired answers; in this case, "IT" does not exactly correspond to "OVID" and "KAFKA." Honestly, after the clue 8 B.C., I would have run...

Sorry I'm not creating a new topic for this post, but frankly, it is one easily answered and therefore does not deserve one.
On that note, what are the general rules for time-outs in the ACF format? Are there even time-outs? Any response would be appreciated.

I hold with those who favor handheld. Despite its sturdiness, the sheer unwieldiness (I like making up words) of the Judge lowers it on my list of likeable buzzers. My favorites as of yet are the Zeecrafts, while I grew up on Qwik Pro - but I admit, the Qwik Pro are liable to malfunctioning/downrigh...

Yeah, we had a stand-by like that for Greek myth we didn't know (which didn't happen too often). Ours was Testicles, but we said it TESS-tik-leez as opposed to TESS-tik-els. And we always said it earnestly, like we didn't know better. The couple of times we got to use it, it was incredibly funny. Th...

I have to admit that I was a little upset about that because it put the three best teams *(in my opinion) in the same bracket, and it prevented our team from obtaining a better seeding and getting further into the tournament (granted, we had a bad round and we have nobody to blame but ourselves). Well, at our league, we play NAQT format with 20 questions per round. Our highest total has been about 450, with an average of about 350 (out of a possible 900 points if you count the powers on every tossup). I haven't had the personal pleasure of playing Solon since early last year, where our team (Farmington) lost to them by ten points. We've been coming very close to beating DCC lately (one tossup/bonus margin last game), but we don't travel much, so our team really doesn't face any IL/IN competition....
