Re: Louisiana 2016-2017

Please figure out how to kick the only real national tournament out of New Orleans. ftfy I will most likely distribute some pyramidal questions at NAC as well as some study materials I got to say this strategic gem has been overlooked. If you pass out pyramids at NAC you upset :chip:. Upsetting :ch...

Re: Where are you going to college next year? (2016–17)

I"m going to Purdue. My parents work there and I want to be an engineer so it's a pretty sweet gig. It's unfortunate that they don't have a more developed quiz bowl program... hopefully I can help with that.

Re: Jeopardy Tournaments in the TriState Area(NJ,NY,PA)

Hey Pingry, I'm Ben from Harrison. We faced each other at NAC nationals last year. Nobody really plays "Jeopardy" style tournaments outside of NAC (see why: https://www.qbwiki.com/wiki/view/Criticisms_of_the_NAC ). Look for something more pyramidal. These tournaments are run on packets such as NAQT,...

Re: Fundraising for PACE NSC

Thanks for all the responses!! My mom is a families pastor at our church of about 800 so I will start there. I went pro in photography last year but have not been taking as many clients because of how busy I have been lately, but maybe I will advertise some sort of deal with that as well.

Fundraising for PACE NSC

Hey guys, My team is trying to attend its first ever pyramidal nationals tournament this summer but we (begrudgingly) are still going to the NAC (2 time champs woo  )so we don't have a lot of extra funds in the bank right now and some of our more active players have already spent an additional ...

didn't want to justify the 2017 NAC with a thread but my team will (unfortunately) be attending instead of HSNCT. However, we will be attending PACE NSC, god bless. Very much unrelated to the current conversation, but are any Illinois teams interested in a BASQT mirror on April 8 in West Lafayette, IN? Re: 2016 nAC

I'd think more about what sort of logical cluster :capybara: could result in a situation in which a question packet could be accidentally displayed along with a Powerpoint presentation (like, were the questions also for some reason in the Powerpoint file?!), but I'd be worried that would lead to a ...

Re: 2016 nAC

I played 11 nationals rounds, and not one took more than 30 minutes. The question on identifying Klimt as the artist of The Kiss was a dead giveaway ahead of time if you had looked at the projector. I've sat in those rooms for quite longer than that; in the one playoff round I was ever in, we were ...

Re: 2016 nAC

How long does the 4th quarter take? It doesn't take an absurdly long time; the game as a whole takes ~40-45 minutes, theoretically, which is far longer than most Quizbowl matches but still not horrible. I played 11 nationals rounds, and not one took more than 30 minutes. Also regarding the wiki Mr....

Re: 2016 nAC

The projector flashed up questions and answers to some tossups in that round in which I saw the answers to 3 questions. Wait, what? Were they actually projecting questions and answers on to a screen for the audience to see while the game was going on or something? Can you explain this a bit more fo...

Re: 2016 nAC

I tried to defend Chip's NAC tournament for the spirit of open-mindedness, but it's difficult to do so after yesterday. In the "Circle of Death" we lost both matches. In the first one, a 20 point loss to the New York team of Briarcliff A, we beat them handsomely in last round, but it wasn't enough t...

Re: 2016 nAC

Do 2 losses eliminate a team from playing on Monday? The teams in question were Poquoson and Luther Wright. I'm certain it doesn't; I'm extremely surprised that they forfeited. Perhaps they were unaware of the playoff rules? 4-2 made the playoffs. Looks like our toughest competition will be against...

At the JV level, West Chester East (PA) defeated Central Bucks East (PA), by a score of 265-85. It's good to see Harrison players participating on the boards! St. Joe's obviously deteriorated as the day went on. Re: Indiana 2013-2014

After an undefeated NAC season for Harrison's Varsity, Junior Varsity, and Freshman teams, Harrison continued on to defeat St. Joe's JV A team by 40 points, claiming the title of NAQT state champions vs. an opponent obviously more well-versed in the questions. St. Joe's suffered this loss after defe...
