Re: Delta Burke 2009 Discussion

I haven't looked over the set yet, but the one tossup I remember hating was the one on Mt. Fuji, which began by stating how many people climb it every year, and giving the period its climbers are most active, right before dropping that an artist made "36 views" of it. Looking past the fact...

For info on the results, and tournament stats, check out this thread on the Ohio Quizbowl Forum. Edit: Also, somebody forgot a dark colored zip-up jacket with yellowish markings on it in (I think) Room 399. I also believe it was a Blizzard brand. Re: Terrapin Invitational Tournament Mirror at Guelph (11/21/09)

So, I hate to be that guy, but seeing as 2 guys who were planning on coming needed to drop for very legitimate reasons (leaving me alone), and the fact that I have no vehicle to even come by myself, Case will very regrettably not be able to show. I hope our absence (along with the absence of our 3 b...

Re: Announcement: Delta Burke (CC) Invitational (11/13-14/09)

Just wanted to say thanks to Chris for letting me and Nick come down to play. We both had a great time. The questions were, for the most part, pretty solid IMO, and despite the fact that rounds took about 45 minutes to play for whatever reason, I had no problems with the logistics of the tournament....

Case will be bringing a team to this (whether it will be 2 or 3 people we have yet to determine) with 3 buzzers (pending any issues with them from now till then). Nobody from our team will be staying to play RMPFest however.

Case is flying in to Chicago, so we would rather not bring along our buzzers (1 or 3 depending on when my Zeecraft order gets here) due to the $30 fee per system we'd have to pay, but if you are going to be short then I suppose we could bring some number along. ACF Winter was emphatically not "extraordinarily easy" last year. Matt is completely correct here. If you look at stats from last year's ACF Fall and ACF Winter (i.e. the mirrors my team attended), you will notice the PPB differential between the following teams: Case Western: Fall-15.31;...

Re: EFT Mirror at Toronto, October 3, 2009

The rounds did seem to be a little on the slow side, but I think it was more due to A) long question lengths B) inexperienced teams that got most tossups near the end and C) talking by players (and sometimes mods) in between questions, as opposed to poor moderating. Despite not being the best modera...

If you're going to call your tournament a nationals set, I would prefer it if you had some sort of qualification process, through a tournament earlier in the year (whatever that might be).
