Chiles High School Tournament

On January 28, 2006, Chiles HS in Tallahassee, Florida held its first ever high school tournament. Fifteen teams competed, with the top eight making it to the playoffs. In the finals, Leon defeated Eastide B. Other teams that deserve recognition for making the playoffs include Lincoln, Rickards, Eas...

Each week, I would keep track of which tossups had been missed; after about two weeks, I would then bring the previous weeks' packets and simply re-read the tossups that had been missed again. I think this is a great idea, and something I'll try at our practices. Nothing fancy goes on at Florida St...

Yes, I think Raj correctly interpreted my comments in a more gentle way. I was a bit frustrated after this tournament, so I really didn't mean for what I wrote to have such a scathing tone. In the future, I'll probably wait a day to comment, so I can simmer down. Now, instead of being so negative, I...

Correct. A quick search shows a tossup on Mackinder from the 1996 Terrapin Invitational. The last words in the tossup are The Geographical Pivot of History.

Also, that bonus on Mackinder is incredibly hard. Mackinder probably needs to be the third part of a bonus. Asking about his book, however well-known it might be among geographers, is probably not appropriate even at a high-level tournament. I'm currently taking a 1000-level geography class here at...

Well, I know very little about college bowl, but I wass just wondering, what's the buzz (pardon the potential GT pun) about schools in GA, namely UGA, GA Tech, Emory, and Berry? Partial Results:

Div 1:
1) Vandy A
2) Florida State A
3) Seth Kendall
4) Georgia Tech A

Vandy beat FSU (280-240) in an exciting match that came down to the last question.

Thank you Charlie and the rest of the UTC crew for putting on another great tournament.

Don't most PAC finals end up like this?
