See, I don't think those CBI teams were real teams that would have met and practiced and competed for more than 1 tournament a year. They had an intramural tournament that picked who represented the school and that was it.

I agree with you Seth, if you are looking to move a team up into a bracket, that makes perfect sense. It's incredibly simple. The tie wouldn't exist in the first place if not for one team beating another, so it makes no sense to break the tie with a result that caused the tie in the first place.

I disagree with that logic. This is a nationwide set and I see nothing wrong with there being a question that inherently favors teams from one area. That just happens sometimes and we shouldn't have to fret about it.

If the matches are timed, it's really easy to miss a bunch of random questions that are in fact in there. NAQT has a truly fixed distribution, and I ran another tournament on this set last month, and despite what it felt like, you're just not correct about what you are saying.
