My quizbowl career is over after I graduate. It's been a fun 8 years, and I might get dragged out of retirement to play an open or something, but it's time to move on. As a way to cement my legacy, I'm writing a "fun" tournament that I want to be run sometime in 2015.

My favorite thing about the article on UMD is either that it has a subhead for "Past Members," "Current Members," and then "Former Members," with no distinction between 1 and 3, and that all but one of the current members are gone.

I just want to say that idea of a tournament being "For us, by us" and then insinuating it'd be unfair that old vets who didn't submit a packet wouldn't get to play when some folks we've never even HEARD OF would is the exact opposite of what "for us, by us" should be.

Some teams seem to go about this about as peacefully as possible-- Delaware has both a real quizbowl team and then a bunch of older hangers-on who seem to play only trash.
